  1. Tyson Barrie is Paris Hilton at this stage of his career. Bring out the knee pads......
  2. I would love that deal but would Calgary? I'm not so sure.....even if Calgary becomes a seller at the deadline (although will they truly ever enter a rebuild given that they have Kadri, Huberdeau, and Weegar all north of 30 and all signed long term?).
  3. If we're trading Pettersson to Columbus, Fantilli is coming back the other way. Otherwise, no deal. Sillinger, Jiricek, and a 1st would also be a minimum requirement in another offer. p.s.__________Petey is clearly playing injured right now. Maybe, oh I dunno, watch games from the start of the season and remember how he plays when healthy?
  4. My guess is a B level prospect but I honestly have no idea. I would gladly drive a guy like Klimovich and a draft pick to the airport but the Preds would likely want more than that.
  5. I'm not a capologist and so my Cap strategy and long term cap ramifications for this season might be a bit off, but here is how I see things: 1. Canucks have a little over $2,000,000 in cap space. 2. Trenin will be a UFA at season's end and carries a $1,700,000 cap hit. As the last 10 games have shown, the Canucks still have some depth issues. Sure, they look like a million bucks when they are close to full health but look quite ordinary when faced with key injuries. With the Zadorov trade, the Canucks have now likely addressed their defensive depth issues. What they need now, in my opinion, is another depth piece at Center. The Canucks have struggled with Suter out and that's where a guy like Trenin will come in handy for us. In a hypothetical scenario where all three of Trenin, Bluegar, and Suter were healthy, you could move Suter to the wing. Ditto for Lafferty. So my question to you, is what would it likely take to bring in Trenin? My next question, is as follows: If the asking price for Trenin was too high, maybe we could bring back Tyler Motte?
  6. One question: With Zadorov on board now (great trade by the way), do you put a) Play Zadorov with Hughes and move Hronek down to anchor the 2nd pairing? (which would, by default, move Myers to the 3rd pairing) b) Keep Hughes and Hronek together and play Zadorov on a 2nd pairing?
  7. You called it good sir. Glad that we didn't have to move Cole.
  8. Incredible trade by Alvin and he has definitely proven why he's one of the best GM's in the league. I'm really surprised that Zadorov was able to be had for so cheap.
  9. I believe in God but more in the "chicken came before the egg" kind of way. I see religion as more of a guide as opposed to something that "one must follow blindly." I also am of the belief that the concept of abiogenesis is just as farfetched as the world being created in 6 days. If I'm taking a poo in the forest, it ain't turning into Theodore Huxstable 100,000 years later. Life can't evolve from non-life. Anyways, that's my $0.02.
  10. This is a good post. Agree with you on Edler and Bear. Like your Lauzon idea. I know my upcoming suggestion wouldn't exactly qualify as bargain hunting, but what about Will Borgen from Seattle? He's 26 and has two years left on his contract. He only has a 2.5 million or so cap hit. I'm wondering if a guy like that could be had if Seattle is out of it come playoff deadline.
  11. Lol no he couldn't. With respect to Chelly, he'd be choking on Perry's egg roll in less than 10 seconds if 60 year old Chelly tried to fight a well conditioned professional hockey player.
  12. Well, If I were to enjoy wrestling with other men in the closet, then perhaps I'd enjoy the idea of having my "back" broken in said closet.
  13. I have fond memories of my time in Chess. I won my middle school and high school tournament in both 1994 and 1996 respectively, and also won Regionals in 1996. In qualified for Provincials in both 94' and 96' and finished 3rd in both events. I wasn't a serious player but I was able to cross over into the 1400 range (retired at 1401) and technically graduated from 'advanced beginner' to 'Intermediate' (1400 is that level; Level C chess player = 1400-1599). I played casually on and off over the years (1990-1998; 2012-2023) and then "retired" a few months ago. A part of me wants to keep playing but I'll be pursuing Doctorate studies in the not-so-distant future (EdD in Curriculum and Design). I'm also a seasoned Investor and so given that both of these endeavours require a lot of focus and is mentally taxing, I'd prefer to have a more physical side hobby to complement that. As a result, I decided to hang up the chess gloves (chess......underwear?) and take up Badminton as my old man sport (I'll be 43 in two months and plan to play Badminton until I'm about 60). I was a tennis player during my grade schooling and University days (played NCAA Division I tennis and achieved an NTRP rating of between 5.0-5.5).
  14. Adding in diarrhea as a sweetener likely would have given us a 4th.
  15. You called it. I was wrong. Surprised that we were able to move Beau but this definitely gives us some cap flexibility.
  16. Good post. But can you imagine if this current team had the Sedins, Tocchet, Foote, and Gonchar all in their primes. :-o.
  17. Unrelated to the topic but I wouldn't be surprised if the "Vancouver Penguins", with Alvin at the helm, signed a 40 year old Evgeni Malkin to a one year deal.
  18. Given the quality of his posts and the IQ he was displaying, I guess it is possible that he was a 15 year old Girl Scout selling cookies and strawberry shortcake.
