  1. Hodgson's greatest moment as a Canuck: Kassian's greatest moment in his..............career?
  2. My only concern with Pesce is his age.......and what his subsequent contract demands would be if he were to stay in Vancouver. That could end up being a very ghastly term and cap hit. With Hronek here, combined with Willander waiting in the wings, I'd rather see the Canucks bring in a partner for Hughes that has a much shorter term on his contract. That way, we can possibly move on from said player once Willander is ready to "take the reins" so to speak.
  3. Kassian a.k.a. the guy that was supposed to be our answer to Milan Lucic in the Canucks-Bruins 2012 Cup Finals rematch, lol. Enjoy your retirement Zachary.
  4. I don't mind getting Schultz but I think the bigger issue for the Canucks still remains in finding another top pairing RD for Hughes. I still don't think Hughes and Hronek are great stylistic fits (though better than I thought), and I still think the Canucks are one key injury away on defense from being in trouble. I like the idea of getting Schultz, moving Myers, and having absolutely nothing to do with Peeke. Hughes-??? Cole-Hronek Soucy-Schultz Depending on who the ???? is, I think that above defensive core would be top 10 in the NHL. That, combined with Demko and DeSmith, would give us both top 10 goaltending and a Top 10 defense. I said this in my other thread, but I still think it could be worth a calculated gamble to move Kuzmenko for someone like Rasmus Andersson, and then take a calculated gamble on guys like Boeser, Mikheyev, Hoglander, Beauviller, and Garland elevating their games with more ice-time and responsibility (as well as getting more ice-time with Pettersson and Miller as centers). To what extent can Pettersson and Miller carry the above line-mates? How likely is it that one or more of Lekkerimaki, Raty, and Podkolzin step in next season and become impact players? I know many will disagree, but I think the above would be worth gambling on. Hughes-Andersson Cole-Hronek Soucy-Schultz Willander could very well be a top pairing NHL defenseman around the time when Andersson's contract expires.
  5. No, we still need a #2A/#3 calibre d-man that is a better stylistic fit for Hughes than Hronek (i.e. someone bigger and with a stronger defensive game). Hronek can then anchor the 2nd pairing. Here is the correct answer to this thread:
  6. Disagree. I can't recall exactly what happened as too much time has passed, but there was just something in the way that he tried to create attention for himself at the time when bringing the cup "home." Joe Sakic brought the cup home to Vancouver/Burnaby back in 1996 and 2001 (Avs, and Sakic in particular, destroyed the Canucks en route to their cup victories in early playoff rounds) and no one had any issue with it.
  7. My only point of confusion these days is why is Lucic even getting all of this attention? When he re-signed with Boston, a YouTube clip was created for his conversation with Cam Neely. And now this article. Lucic was a good player in his prime, but he was never a superstar. He has been a 4th line calibre player for what? The last 5-6 seasons now? While a small part of me is happy for Lucic since he's back into a community that he wants to be a part of for the long term, I just don't understand all of this attention that's being placed on him. He's Milan Lucic. He ain't Joe Sakic.
  8. I'll go on record stating that I'm glad that he was punched twice in 2013 when he went downtown (a few hours after the Bruins had lost 6-2 to the Canucks).
  9. Hughes will get his respect in time. Keep plugging away. The Sedins' and Bure eventually got there and Hughes and Pettersson will get there as well.
  10. Disagree. Too much strain between the city of Vancouver and Lucic given what happened during 2011 and beyond (i.e. cup win + Lucic's arrogant cup celebration two months later + Lucic Church being vandalized + Lucic being slapped in the face in downtown in 2013.
  11. @Goal_thecup - Why the long (Kuzmenko) face?
  12. @Bob Long - don't get me wrong, I see the logic behind your proposal (it's well thought out), but I just can't see it helping us much. Mantha won't move the needle for us.
  13. Feels like it's two men in a bathroom swapping each other's poo. Same pile, different shit, similar result.
  14. At this stage of Klimovich's career, he should just become Brendan Gaunce's wife and move to the Virgin Islands together.
  15. Pius Suter? Pfffffft...... More like.....Piss Suter, AmIrite?
  16. What about Kuzmenko for Rasmus Andersson? The Flames already have Weeger and Tanev on their right side D. With Huberdeau not being able to "get it up" so to speak, combined with Lindholm having to play with gimps like Ruzicka and Coronato on the 1st line, this is where a guy like Kuzmenko could really help them. Now what's in it for Vancouver? We get a solid partner for Hughes while allowing Hronek to anchor the 2nd pairing. We then take a calculated risk that Pettersson can carry guys like Boeser and whomever (Mikheyev) on that 1st line while Miller can carry guys like Garland (who rescinds his trade request now that he'd be given more opportunity with AKs departure), Beauviller, Hoglander, etc. Mikheyev-Pettersson-Boeser Hoglander-Miller-Garland Beauviller-Suter-Lafferty PDG-Bluegar-Joshua [One or more of Podkolzin, Lekkerimaki, and Raty possibly ready to step in next season] Hughes-Andersson Cole-Hronek Soucy-Friedman [Willander eventually steps into the line-up at some point and eventually becomes a top 4 calibre d-man.......perhaps right around the time that Andersson becomes a UFA]. Demko [replaced by Silovs in 3 years or less] DeSmith
  17. LOL, no they wouldn't. As much as I love Miller, Kane would make JT his wife for the evening if they fought.
  18. Evander Kane takes shits bigger than Connor Garland. Not really sure why Edmonton makes this deal.
  19. One concern I have is that he keeps referring to Vancouver as "there" instead of "here." Might be a sign of detachment but I could be reading too far into things.
  20. I loved Hansen as a player but he needs to STFU. What's the point of ragging on a guy that's already feeling down? (Myers). Positive reinforcement + positive encouragement. Let's help these guys when they're feeling down in the dumps. The amount of pressure that players in a Canadian market face is just insane......and it does the player absolutely no favours when everyone in the city is slamming the guy. BTW, I'm not a huge fan of Thomas Drance but even Drancer pointed out that Myers' underlying numbers and stats were much better than that game indicated. Give guys like Myers and Garland a f'cking break for Christ sakes. Keep all the negative shit to 2022/2023.........because being so negative last season worked so well for us right? Jesus......
  21. And Pat Quinn, the GM, got canned before Renney did right? Strange times indeed.
  22. Tom Renney coached the Canucks during the 96-97 season and also at the start of the 97-98 season did he not? Also, with regards to Sundin, that was a different story. Sundin, 38, had missed half a season waiting for the Rangers to clear cap space so that he could play for them. When that didn't happen, he signed with Vancouver and was understandably a bit rusty. As we got closer to the playoffs however, we saw glimpses of the old Sundin. Sundin was PPG during the playoffs and took Kesler under his wing. Kesler even gives Sundin massive credit towards molding him (i.e. Kesler was trending to be an elite 3rd line Center before Sundin gave him some tips into becoming a stronger offensive threat).
