  1. In creating this idea, I'm cognizant of the fact that this will never happen, and am also cognizant of the fact that this is likely a bad idea. BUT - playing Devil's advocate here for a second, let us pretend that we gave up our two best prospects for one really good young player (aged 20-23) that 1. Was still on an ELC 2. Could help us win now 3. Could be a long term asset for us. So just as an example, lets say you moved Willander + Lekkerimaki to Anaheim for Mason McTavish (if not McTavish, a player, aged 20-23 that would be equal value to Willander + Lekkerimaki). Maybe Anaheim does this because they get an extra premium asset to build for the long term. So now, in their collection of young talent, they'd have Carlsson (C), Gauthier (LW), Lekkerimaki (RW), and Willander (D). No guarantees, but there's a chance that one or BOTH of Lekkerimaki and Willander will be better than McTavish one day. And maybe the Canucks do this because they get an asset that could help us both now and in the future. We get a long term core player. Miller-Pettersson-Boeser Mikheyev-McTavish-Lindholm Joshua-Bluegar-Garland Hoglander-Suter-Lafferty Now, is this a realistic idea? Probably not.............BUT, I will have to admit that it's tempting to think about.
  2. Why did you become a fan? - because my dad's favourite team was the Canucks [became a die hard when we drafted Linden + Nucks/Flames series from 89' when Otto kicked it in. Nucks were severely outmatched in that series but showed a lot of heart and almost pulled off the upset]. First game you remember? Canucks getting slapped around by the Oilers in 1986 First game you saw in the arena? Canucks vs. Minnesota North Stars (1990?) Fave jerseys/shirt: Our 1994 Jerseys.
  3. I hope you're right. We saw it for the first 10 games of this season, and at certain moments during the season after that, but he's going to need to work on his consistency.
  4. MacKinnon is the clear cut #1 or #1A player on his team alongside Makar. You can play MacKinnon with pretty much anyone and his line is a threat almost every single time. MacKinnon, as of this writing, has surpassed 100 points. The guy us a clear cut Franchise superstar with a Cup to his name. I love Petey, and we have seen flashes of franchise potential (i.e. first 10 games of this season + 2nd half of 21/22 season, etc.), but there's too many stretches where he's been non-existent. He has one goal in his last 10 games right now. He's the 4th best player on the Canucks right now. With respect, Petey is a lot more than $1m behind Mackinnon at current imo. I like Petey and see potential, but he'll need to step up if he wants to earn his new Franchise level contract.
  5. You might be right but here's how I'm seeing things right now: Along with Pettersson, comparable cap hits now include MacKinnon, McDavid, Panarin, Matthews, and Pastrnak. I love Pettersson, but can we honestly say that as of this writing, Petey belongs in that same weight class? I'm not so sure. Petey is going to need to step up.
  6. $11.6 million is a hometown discount? Seems like he got paid on par with market value (not a bad thing, but I'm not seeing much of a discount here). Like I said - I'm happy that we've got a good young Center that is locked up for the next 8 years. Pettersson is currently the 4th best player on the team, and is bordering on being a franchise level star. He has that potential - we saw it during the first 10 games of the seasons, and periodic flashes after that. Having said that, he's going to need to step up if he wants to live up to this new contract. Hopefully, with the contract distraction in the rear view mirror now, we can see the Elias Pettersson that we saw during the 2nd half of the 2021/2022 season.....or the Pettersson that we saw during the first 10 games of this season.
  7. $11.6 million @ 8 years. While I'm happy that Pettersson will be here for the long term, I think he's going to need to step up his game a bit in order to live up to the contract. Hopefully, with the contract distraction in the rear view mirror now, Petey can go back to the way he was playing during the first 10 games of this season. THAT guy was definitely worth $11.6 million, if not more. I'm cautiously happy but Petey needs to step it up.
  8. I'm excited over the term (4 inch erection as is par the course), but I want to know what the AAV is. Depending on the AAV, there is potential for 4.15 inches.
  9. Earlier in the season, I would have suggested Soucy-Hronek as a 2nd pairing, and Hughes + (an acquired #2A/#3 calibre d-man) as a top pairing.......but that ship seems to have sailed.
  10. He's not untradable if you're willing to take on a bad contract (i.e. Logan Couture, Huberdeau, etc.)
  11. Oh great, so Kyle Turris is our new Monica Lewinsky.
  12. That could work, but Petey and JL being on the same line together during playoff hockey might be a bit concerning. Lots of skill on that line, but JL is about the same size as Taylor Swift while "bowling pin Petey" might need someone bigger than Lindholm to help dig out pucks.
  13. Agreed. In that scenario, I’d still reunite the Lotto line but play Lekkerimaki with Lindholm.
  14. Pettersson-Miller-Boeser (Sc1) Mikheyev-Lindholm-Suter (shut down) PDG-Bluegar-Garland (Sc2) Hoglander-Aman-Lafferty (4th) Thats what I’d do right now
  15. Agree with you on Matthews but I think most people would agree that Matthews is a class above Pettersson. My point with Kuzmenko is that the Canucks were winning games even with Kuzmenko shitting it up on the 2nd line. Lotto Line and Garland gave us all of the primary and secondary scoring that we needed. My ultimate point is that we should go back to that instead of trying to over-cater to Lindholm. Have Lindholm form a super shut down line with Mikheyev and Suter, and re-unite the Lotto line. Agree with you on Joshua. Try PDG on that line while he’s out instead of Bains.
  16. Does it make sense for a Top 5 team in the NHL to make so many trades before the playoffs (taking into account all of the previous trades that we've made this season). What type of impact would this have in the locker room? Team Chemistry. Move Petey if you must be save that shit for the off-season. Also, how many 1st rounders in life are we expected to give up?
  17. Hopefully, we turn it around. 1. Stop making trades and creating a volatile environment for the players. 2. Re-unite the Lotto Line 3. Put PDG with Bluegar/Garland since he’s somewhat stylistically similar to Joshua. 4. Make Mikheyev-Lindholm-Suter an elite shut down line (focusing primarily on defense) that can take on tough match ups and free up more offensive deployment for the Lotto Line.
  18. Probably Pettersson except I don’t think he needs a modern day Duncan Keith. Anytime someone even nudges Petey, he falls down like a bowling pin. Seriously - Pettersson is a very very very good hockey player, but it will be a mistake if we pay him 12 million.
  19. Canucks = 1-5-1 in the last seven. Slice it however you want but we’ve consumed a lot of different dna lately.
  20. #1 seed Canucks might face off against a #8 LA Kings team consisting of Kopitar and Doughty in the first round. Deja vu?
  21. I hear you about Petey and you’re right…..statistics wise, he has everything. His point totals + the advanced stats do paint a pretty good picture of Petey. Now having said that - let me ask you this: Ignoring the stats and the underlying numbers, what does the eye test say to you? In your opinion, Does Pettersson scare opponents in the manner that 94 Bure, 96 Mogilny, 03 Bertuzzi, or 2011 twins did? Take away the first 10 games of this season (which I will admit was incredible), and how has Petey *really* looked this year?
  22. In that case, I'd just re-unite the Lotto line. Put PDG with Bluegar/Garland for the physical presence, and make Mikheyev-Lindholm-Suter a super shut down line.
  23. This semen definitely smells familiar. Smells like April 2012 all over again.
