One more rant regarding Petey: I think this is an important year for him learning/development wise. Its his first full year under Tocchett. I think Petey has fully bought into Tocc’s philosophy-take what they give you. He’s playing a very methodical game and (I believe) his floor is raising. While I do think Hoggy is a good linemate, having another systems guy that can produce like a Guentzel for example would likely result in more dynamic play. What I like about Petey though is that he is committed to playing within the team structure (not that he was a free wheeler) but in the past he might try to force more skilled plays. Even though people think he is struggling I see a more evolved approach to his game that will continue to get better.

Tocc having a pulse on the game is a no brainer, but I really liked how he said he’s leaning on certain guys tomorrow to bring it/create momentum for the team. I believe game 2 will be even more intense than game 1.

One thing I have noticed is that he is playing within the system/not over extending himself. Take what’s given. His line as a whole hasnt been able to generate more but they also havnt been a liability. I do think beyond this year we will see a more individually dominant Petey but atm line chemistry seems to be the big thing.

I dont think you need to (overly) worry about Petey. He is one of the rare, obsessed and driven players (like Hughes) who want to achieve their best. I feel like I can confidently say that. The way I look at Petey is in terms of years. He’s year 6 Petey right now at age 25. I see year 7 Petey and beyond being better versions of himself because he works so hard in the off season. You can definitely see the changes physically and as his body matures there is room for growth. I know people are concerned about him right now, and that’s fair. He’s still a very slick player w the ability to make game breaking plays-hopefully we can see it make an impact in the playoffs.

Just finished the game. There were zero passengers. Everyone worked their tails off and made some good plays. Miller was unbelievable. The timing of the Suter goal couldnt have been better. Then the Joshua goal? I want to hear the crowd like that more often. Myers was a beast. Z too. Entire D played well. I havt listened to Tocc’s post game yet but I bet he loved how methodical the team played.

Nervously checked score at work. Seeing them pop 2 in the third was frickin awesome. Gonna watch the game now

Garland could be a massive difference maker imo. I think he will thrive in a playoff environment. Hughes and Miller too. Game 1 is going to be absolutely bananas.

So excited for this series. I think the back end is gonna step big time in the physicality department. Big Z and Soucy especially I think will dish out some big hits.
