After many years and countless failed attempts to register there and years of just reading along: I can finally write something and participate. May it always be useful. And dark mode is the icing on the cake, when reading along with the games while the kid is sleeping right next to one. Deviant time zones make it happen. It's tough to find people in Germany to discuss a hockey team half the world over, so the forum helped me a lot in my fandom. Never posted over there since I was very insecure about my english skills, but I can say I truly learned the language reading these forums ('should of' paid more attention in school) and staying up all night to listen to Canucks Games on 1040. Really greatful to all the posters on CDC for helping me get invested in a team that cost me my sanity over the years. Maybe this new forum is a chance to post more myself, so thanks so much for the creators for stepping up when corporate greed (I assume) let us all down!!! I was completely stunned about 20 minutes ago when I read about the closure of CDC. I was unsure of where to get my fix of Canucks Hockey speak. Down here in Australia you cant just flick on a radio or chat to your co workers about the latest trade or crazy coaching decision. The forum was my place for all knowledge. One thing that came to my mind immediately when I heard the news of official forum closure was that I may never meet cdc members in real life. Things I always wanted to know: is Alf really an old drunk guy? Does Deb really carry a cowbell? Does Vintage really live in the screen? My wish was to plan a cdc meet up party when Canucks win the cup. That may take many years still, but it would be fun to finally meet members in cdc for the first time. Even though I am now 3 hours ahead and probably won't be a part of as many GDTs as i'd like. I want to use this opportunity to learn more about the community and the people here that help make it great. This was a stark reminder that nothing lasts forever and I think I should appreciate what's infront of me a little more. Thanks to everyone who has started and will migrate over in the next couple of weeks. As mentioned on CDC. My inbox is always open. We are all humans here with real-life human issues and hockey is one of the ulitimate escapes from reality for a lot of us. I woke up at 5am logged onto CDC around 6am found out it was shutting down and thought I was going to have a horrible day . Found out Stealth set this up so I signed up before my day begins..
