[GDT] Vancouver @ Seattle. Friday, November 24th, 7pt/10et. SNP, SN650.

Canucks have been feasting on the bottom cellar dwellers (as they should).  Their losses have come from (supposedly) true contenders like TB, TOR, COL, NYR.  PHI, SEA and CAL losses seem more like bad luck.

Hope Canucks get the win and go on a winning streak.  They need to gain pts early in the schedule as it won’t get any easier as the season progresses.

Go Canucks Go!!!

Canucks: Injuries lead to roster shuffle, two now on injured reserve

The injury-hit Vancouver Canucks are set to shuffle their roster.

Both Tyler Myers and Mark Friedman were injured during Wednesday’s game, a 5-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche in Denver, and neither finished the game. The Canucks have yet to provide an update on either.

But there’s obviously concern about at least one defenceman, and perhaps a forward too.

The Canucks recalled Nils Åman and Cole McWard from AHL Abbotsford on Friday morning.

To make room for the duo, the NHL club put Carson Soucy and Pius Suter on injured reserve. Soucy is dealing with some sort of leg or foot fracture and had previously been announced as out for six to eight weeks, suggesting he would be out for at least 10 games.

He’s an obvious candidate for long-term injured reserve, which would give the Canucks some salary cap relief and allow them to bring in reinforcements from AHL Abbotsford.

Suter is dealing with an undisclosed injury, but head coach Rick Tocchet has only said he’s been day-to-day in his recovery. He didn’t travel with the Canucks on their current three-game road trip.

Suter last played Nov. 12, so his placement on IR would be retroactive. Placing him on IR would open up a roster spot.

McWard being recalled suggests at least one of Friedman or Myers won’t play Friday in Seattle against the Kraken, and bringing in Åman, who can play both centre or wing, suggests there’s concern about a forward beyond Suter, perhaps Elias Pettersson, who is believed to be dealing with a minor injury, quite possibly his groin.

Cap juggle — If Canucks were aggressive on these move, they’d have sent Akito Hirose down before the recalls and brought up McWard first, as his cap hit is $135,000 higher than Hirose’s. With Hirose on the roster, the Canucks had $137,500 in cap space, so having McWard on the roster over Hirose would put them $2,500 from the limit and in that scenario, they could shuffle nearly all of Carson Soucy’s $3.5 million cap hit on to LTIR. Then they’d bring Hirose back up, along with Åman.

I think Alvin makes a move for a D man that he wants to sign / stay here, before Christmas.

Just feels like we’re in band aid mode when this team needs one character added to that Position to keep the group strong.

Heard the rumour hat E Bear flew into Vancouver recently (UFA) ?

Im still hopeful of Zadorov coming (traded) here and signing before UFA.

This Team needs Managements support right now .  We’re not Fragile,  but we still need to be leaning into the Wind for positive progress.

We run with like 12-13 dmen every year. Let's get some real depth in that position if we're attempting to be a legit team during this core's window.

I keep hearing people referring t an "easy schedule" to dismiss our wins.

Avs haven't yet HAD a back to back in their schedule....Canucks are on their 3rd (with travel).

Don't just look at "who" they play....look at where and when. It matters.

Our schedule is always one of the toughest if you factor travel in....just how it is. But I'm sick of the talk of "easy" wins. Also that teams touted as great and contenders have their blow out losses overlooked.

Love this team.

I second that.  5 b2b games for the whole season for Avs.  Starting today and 4 more b2b games, once a month from January until season ends.  There are no balance on the strength of schedule.
