He was a 39 goal scorer last season when he was shooting with a 27% accuracy.  He's around 11% this year. 39 goals isn't happening this year. He'll be lucky to pot 20 at this rate

I can't stand losses like the one tonight.

 

I understand you will lose games, but when you choose to not show up and be ready to grind it out especially when you're tired, down several regular players, and travel is catching up, you need to play smart. I don't care if its 7 games in 11 nights. Every team plays tired in the NHL, it going to happen. If you're tired and missing good players, you have to play smart and play within your structure, but this team didn't do that. They played very undiscipline tonight, making poor decisions with the puck, poor defensive reads, and just allowing the Sharks into the game.

 

That starts right at the top with our star players, sure Miller, Hughes, Petey, Hronek got us goals and points, but man their puck management and defensive awareness was what sunk this team tonight. This last stretch, it has been the bottom six that has been carrying the mail and playing discipline hockey.

I wouldn't go that far. Definitely not for the whole game. A lot of blocked shots and passes that amounted to nothing.

Definitely something wrong with Pettersson. He is nowhere near himself and is not able to find open ice, if he does its low percentage plays or giveaways.

 

Give him some time to heal. My bigger concern is something mentally going on or that he has an injury he's trying to play through because the alternative is surgery or putting him on the shelf for an extended period of time.

 

Miller is fine.

 

Kuzmenko, sure sit him a game. Not back to backs and he needs to play to bring offense. Catch 22, needs to play more, coaches want him to play different.

The only real downer is LA just leapfrogged us in the standings, but they should also have their regression coming.

 

Looks like we'll see a dogfight in the top 3 spots in the division for the next little while.

Are the Canucks as good as the 2010 Hawks? No, but they had a stretch of 10 straight losses that year.  So good teams do have poor stretches while not being a direct comparison… 

 

Avs recently lost to the Preds, Sabres, Blues, Knights ... got beaten bad in some of those. It happens. We have to be able to get back into the win column asap and keep getting better.

I’m old enough to remember when posters wanted to send Petey to the AHL.  

 

Kuzmenko has all the talent in the world.  It would be pretty dumb to give up on him now…

LA is the team to beat 

 

As long Nux stay in the div race, that's fine.  Those 3 games v LAK gonna be huge
