I don’t blame him for being cautious before committing long term. Having said that, new management has more than proven themselves to be competent in my eyes, so I hope he signs soon. But if he’s thinking about an 8 year deal… that’s a serious commitment and I think he just wants to be sure his prime years are not wasted. There is a very small handful of teams he could be traded to who would have even equal chance. So while I believe him when he says he wants to win, I honestly don't think this delay is being driven by that desire. So then either he dislikes the team (players, coach, GM, ownership) the location, or it's about either money (including tax implications of playing in Canada) or term. I'm guessing money. Vancouver and Toronto seem to be the worst, unfortunately. It may seem like a small point, but having your name constantly associated with negative stories probably really bothers some guys.
