On Tuesday evening, the Vancouver Canucks traded Anthony Beauvillier to the Chicago Blackhawks for a conditional fifth round draft pick.

Rewind things a few months, and this would be looked at as a disappointing outcome. Go all the way back to when Beauvillier was the most visible component of the Bo Horvat trade and had notched 16 points in his first 18 games as a Canuck, and a return this low would have been downright unbelievable.

Ideally they'd have moved him during the summer, I remember mentioning him as a means to dump cap. Could maybe have gotten more for him at the time, but it could also be that there simply wasn't a market for him.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him put up some points in Chicago and garner them a return greater than the 5th they gave up. They can certainly afford to retain.

Streaky player, if he gets hot at the right time, Chicago may trade him.

The guy could put up enough points to win 4 out of 6 games, almost on his own, but those 8 game stretches with no points are killers.

At least he has a shot of telling his grandkids he played on a line with Bedard.

I wish him well, seems like a good pro player, and decent guy.

On the bright side they have constructed a bottom 6 that is cheap. All around 1 mill ish. No longer are we paying 3+ mill for bottom 6 players.

How is Garlund around 1 million ish? and Garlund is the only thing keeping both those lines looking real  LEGIT. both lines benifit from Garlund whether he his on his way off the ice or on his way on the ice

I'm not PA, but I hope not.

Alllll depends on who it is for.
That’s the crux of it all.

If you were to land another Hronek type who could become a key piece in successive playoff appearances for this club over the next few seasons, I’d argue it’s worth it for the right player.

it'll be interesting to see what happens around Boeser.  There's a very good chance they won't be able to afford both he and Petey at this point

Yep, good question. Hence the reason it was so important to push on, while they have them all on manageable contracts... Big decisions to be made... Luckily JR has been in this position many times...

As a lifelong canucks fan I would keep Brock over Petterson if we were trading for Jack and Luke Hughes for Petterson.
