The Pittsburgh Penguins just laid another egg last night.  They are .500 but already look dead.  Reilly Smith isn't finding chemistry with Malkin or Crosby.  Their powerplay hasn't scored in nearly a whole month (Nov 11).  This team is old as dirt but they are healthy and still performing like crap.

How long does Dubas wait before pressing the panic button, whatever that means?  The last time they fired a coach mid-season, they won the Stanley Cup.  Twice.  The time before that, when Bylsma replaced Therrien, they... also won the Stanley Cup.  I'm sure that statistic is not lost on Dubas or Sullivan.

I doubt they got the panic button and sell the farm for one last shot........and I doubt Crosby wants them to.

Legalizing sports betting was going to happen eventually, I just wish it wasn't shoved in our faces all the time. It and alcohol, and I like alcohol.

Lot of folks can just gloss over it and find annoying, but these kind of ads can absolutely influence developing brains. Not just the young though, walk into a casino and the demographic probably won't be young. Gambling can be a slippery slope for a lot of folks.

I don't like the Oilers, but I recognize they were among the top teams over the last few years and have the best player in the world .......and if they are back on track, are going to be hard to keep out of a divisional playoff spot.

You think Crosby would try and block player moves?  I... really don't think he's that type of person.  If Dubas told Sid he was going to trade Geno and Kris just to shake things up, I bet Sid would just let it happen.

I meant the other way.......sell the farm for one last shot at the cup.  I think did would put the future of the pens ahead of his own desire for one last cup

Lol farm?  What farm?

I don't think Crosby will block any trade.  A player is more likely to be unhappy when his oldest teammates are moved (ie. Geno/Kris for other players, not prospects).  But even then, Crosby putting his foot down and being GM?

yeah, you lost me.  I was just commenting that I don't think Crosby would want the pens to mortgage their future so he can get another shot at the Cup.  I never said anything about blocking trades or even being consulted.  He's a player, not a GM or coach.

I think Leo Carlsson will become a more complete player, similar to Petey.  A 100 point two way centre.  Not sure what Bedard's ceiling will be.  He's not as good a skater as McDavid, so not sure if he will get up to the 130+ point range.  We will see.  Plus Anaheim is going to be a better team than Chicago and Leo will have more to work with.

Lots of people were saying that Fantilli would be the better player and even I thought Anaheim would take Fantilli.  But I think Anaheim took the better player.  You can never go wrong with a big Swedish centre...

Oilers are going to pass us by the end of the year.

It's embarrassing, you're probably right. Such a Canuck thing to do, coming up short. Their positive mentality was there early in the season. They played so disciplined and were so serious. That's gone. The 3rd line C and a bottom pairing D are both out and they've turned into a 0.500 hockey team. Fragile.
