I.AM.THE.WALRUS
It looks like we’re fighting through some sort of learning curve… This team needs to figure out how to pull it back together again to find another gear because I think teams know how to play us now - we have to adjust our strategy because teams have adjusted to us and we’re not as effective as we used to be 2

We got on the board early but then slacked off for most of the game until the last few minutes of the third.

Calgary, Buffalo, Chicago, Colorado all couldn't do it, I suppose we can.... Just saying don't get your expectations to high with him at all. But get back after 20 games if you wish. Popular Post Darius
Looked like one of Mikheyev's better games. No training camp, off of major surgery. Hopefully he keeps this up. It was a good move to put Lafferty on that line, he can win some board battles and charge the net. Kuz on BB/JT's line is a good mix too.

The players know what they have to do to play better. Now it's up to them to play better.

Team is probably pacing itself not trying super hard and burning itself out - it’s a long season… It’s learning how to win and learning how to be efficient and maybe they have injuries so they’re not playing as hard as they can?

Where we disagree is that I think the players are playing good the coach needs to get them playing better than good and that is having a response other then words but in the structure of play. Tocchet's has a lot of words but no response in the structure

Tampa has lost 4 straight. 82 games in a season. Ebbs and flows always happened and always will. 1

IF we beat LA or possibly Dal, then it would be Vegas, IF we beat Veg, then it would be Col. LA, VEG, COL before even a chance at the cup.... Tall task is an understatement. JeremyCuddles
Good win. Demmer probably a bit disappointed on the last 2 goals. Over committed on the 2nd and the 3rd was just a freak bounce that went their way. Glad we got the dub though.

It's OK to enjoy wins, even if they are not perfect. The Canucks are 13-0 when leading after 2 periods. Compare that to last year... this is a much stronger team, one that I love to watch. 1
Popular Post JamesB
Late comments. 1. Relieved to get the win in another close game. The Cnaucks did deserve the win. The shots and Corsi (shot attempts) were almost the same but the Canucks had a significant edge in expected goals. The Canucks are not a "high volume" team in terms of shots. They have a lot of guys who look to set up a good scoring chance even if they end up without a shot on goal. 2. The Petey-Mik-Laffer line was great. At 5-on-5 they outshot the Flames 9-1 and of course scored two goals. Petey was particularly good and had the "third assist" on Lafferty's goal (in addition to his other two points). They were the top 3 players in the "statcards" advanced stats. 3. Zadorov was good. Not only did he get the first assist on the "game-winning-goal" but his advanced stats were very good. And he looked good by the eye-test. It is quite possible that acquiring him actually made the difference in tonight's game. Having him play is a significant upgrade for the D. And Hughes had to play "only" 22 minutes, which helps. 4. The Aman-Karlsson-Hogs line got buried in the advanced stats. As individuals, Aman and Karlsson did not do well. I would be inclined to try Bains instead of Karlsson. (Bains had another excellent game for Abby tonight.) And We should all hope that Suter comes back soon, although he seems to have fallen into a black hole. 5. The special teams continue to be a bit disappointing, The PP had a post on a shot from Petey on the 5-on-3 but has dropped off a lot since the start of the year. And the PK gave up 2 more goals (one at 6-on-4). 6. Overall, this was a gritty and well-deserved win on the road against a resurgent Flames team. I'll take it. Now we need a follow-up win on Tuesday. 3 5 1
