Wanted to make himself availabe for media to ask him questions about the trade. I don't see anything wrong with that. DownUndaCanuck Posted December 3, 2023 Share Posted December 3, 2023 We have arguably the biggest and toughest D to play against now, up there with the likes of Vegas and a few of the conference finalists. 4 physical beasts (Cole, Soucy, Zadorov, Myers) who are all well over 6 foot and 200lbs. Then there's Hronek who is pretty average at 6 foot, 190lbs and tiny Quinn. Teams which have success in the playoffs tend to have this build - 4 or 5 solid defensive defencemen who can make a good first pass and not much else, and then an all-world puck moving defenceman. In the short term our D looks fantastic. Next year we'll have to make some decisions about Cole and Myers. I'd quite like to bring Cole back cheaply if he can still perform, otherwise we'll have to find a way to replace him. Myers is tricky, I wouldn't mind him as a really cheap bottom pairing guy if he'll take a couple of mil, but he might be able to earn himself 3-4M with his pretty decent stat line right now (despite all his mistakes). Regardless, Soucy and Zadorov are in the prime of their careers and still kind of young so we could keep them around for the next 3-5 years easily. 1 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The press call at 1AM was unprecedented And there is likely and probable considering Rutherford's history and how Zardorov came out of nowhere that there was something more than Allvin expressing the hope of Zadorov re-signing. There was chit chat about some teams wanting to do deals ASAP, Tampa being one. I SPECULATED that some sort of deal was happening like I posted, due to the time of the press call. That's all.
