The defence has been revamped a fair bit but this is still very similar to the team that finished 20th last year. This year we were expected to compete for a wildcard spot. Coaches are very hard to evaluate because you can't actually see the coaching on your tv like you can see the players playing hockey. He hasn't had an overly great record but honestly most coaches don't and it is largely a function of the talent they are given to work with. He coached Arizona. For myself RT values the exact same things I do. Commitment, a team game, playing hard in the corners, winning one on one battles, eliminating odd man rushes, forechecking to turn pucks over, tight defence, systems orientated, meeting adversity head on, and on top of that he's a players coach, values relationships with the players, positive reinforcement, empowerment of the players, and his door is always open. Honestly at this point I can't imagine why a fan would have anything negative to say about him unless they came in with pre-conceived ideas. He's done an excellent job so far in my opinion.
