brilac
This morning I tried a sample size of a new moisturizer I got in a pack of best products I purchased from a store. I was like - gosh! I really like this moisturizer! So I was online, and the moisturizer is $165.00 for 1 oz and $280.00 for 2 oz. Then I saw they were still advertising their gift set for $79.00 that includes a 0.5 oz deluxe travel size of the moisturizer, and am like - I can buy this and get the gift set along with it because I have to buy something like a serum to buy the gift set. So here I am trying to justify the purchase before I buy it. I then count the moisturizers and serums I bought over the holidays of another brand, and I cannot justify the purchase because I already have a lot of serums and moisturizers. So I am going to put my purchase to a halt because there is no sense in buying more. It's like the vintage pink coffee pot I want. I have a plain black coffee pot. To jazz it up, give it character - I am going to put hockey stickers on it. But next week I may buy the vintage pink coffee pot because I can donate the plain black coffee pot! OldFaithfulcap
I'm really at a low point. So ironic since the canucks and possibly niners are doing well.

Winter- usually drab, grey and yucky weather. Also too much social media, or even mainstream news broadcasts can ruin your day. -All negative 95%, or more, of the time. Aging- in general can bring us down, if we aren't really careful. So much stuff changing, we can shut ourselves away from that, because it is easier to do the same old, same old routine, as compared to trying some new stuff.
Popular Post Gurn
I've been doing, mostly daily, walks with Mom, and over the last few years, and especially last couple of months, have watched as she shuts down. Topics like the 'good old days' and 'how the world is going to heck' come up a lot more than it used to. She is saying goodbye to the world, and it is easier to say goodbye to things you don't like, than the things you do. However this means even the things that did keep her going are being moved into to her 'don't like list'- making it even easier to say goodbye. Tough couple of days for her, she had to have her dog, of 15 years, put down yesterday, and today, as we left the coffee bar at the mall, saw an ambulance at the Mal Wart entrance. I told the gals at the coffee shop I'd want a report, on Monday, about just what happened- only to find out that one of our coffee 'friends' just had a fall and split his head open. 4 weeks left, till her appointment with the Dr. from the MAiD program. I am happy for her, as she is getting both physically and mentally frail, and she knows it. over the last while she has become more than "just" my mom, but also my best friend. Aging and death are the worst parts of life.

Aging and death are the worst parts of life. The same thing happened with my Dad the last year of his life. He started telling me all sorts of stories growing up in Sask in the 1930's. Leaving home at 15 to go farm in Texas,Kansas and Oklahoma with 2 of his friends. Then they logged in Northern Ontario in the winter. He almost died sking as he broke his leg at night but manged to crawl up the hill and someone found him. A few stories about being wounded in Korea but not many. Had his front teeth knocked out in Japan when a rickshaw hit a hole and he was tossed out. He kept talking about how hard it was going to bed at night not knowing if he would wake up. He got me to take him to pre pay everything for his funeral. He never let me know how bad his health was at the end. His heart finally gave out and his lady friend found him when she went to visit. The best thing you can do is to be there for your Mom and listen no matter how heart breaking it is. You are a good guy so I know you will be.
brilac
I confess ~ I have gone a week without eating pizza! As it was very tempting, especially when walking by the store and peaking through the windows at the hot pizza in the distance. And even more, especially passing by the hot pizza on my way to the kombucha, yes ~ it was very tempting and hard to resist! But I did it! A week without pizza! And I feel lighter. Yeah.

I didn't have pizza today as well, so I am going on eight days without pizza. On another note, I finally got my passport photo taken. My passport expired months ago, and I have been meaning to renew it. I can still go up to Vancouver and over to Victoria using my Enhanced ID card, but maybe I may want to go to Iceland and Yugoslavia. So I think I can still renew it, if not, I will go through the process of getting a new passport.
OldFaithfulcap
I'm doing better. A complex personal issue has resolved, let's just say harry met sally isn't fully right and ignores trainwrecks. I've at least been writing. Should hit 10,000 words soon, not bad for just over a few weeks.
