He is in a funk right now, and yet still above a point per game... Let that sink in, above a point per game, when he is in a bit of a funk. I though of all the things, Vancouver fans would know that most star players don't hit the top till late twenties... Over 100 point age 24, was en route to replica that season until the resent funk hit him. How much do you suggest he should be paid? or should they trade him? And in the end Peteys agent says, what he wants... then its up to PA to decide if he is worth it... Only time will tell, but in a 2-3 years $11.6 will be the new $9... Wait and see what Rantanen will be demanding next year or Draiseitl, or McD in 2 years time... Peteys contract will look good or at least fine in a few years, and at the end of his contract maybe even like a steal... Well said Spook. Some people are such goofs lol. Super/Star 25 year old 100 point center. You pay him exactly what he got, thank your blessings, and move on to the important things. 1 1

There really was only a choice between lock up our 90-100 pt annual C, or go UFA hunting. 1

Smashian Kassian
He moves very well for a big guy, and the physical part of his game is obvious. I imagine Abby will be a bigger step-up for him next season than Lekkerimaki, but if they take their time he should be fine in his development. Wouldn't expect him to contend for a call-up quickly but he looks like a legit player imo. Next year will be important for him. Pretty much exactly this. 15 points in a full AHL season would be reasonable expectations. Woo and Truscott would be ahead of him for call-ups next year. One full year AHL and a second one where he does get call-ups would be a natural progression for him before earning a full-time spot. Let him learn how to be a difference-maker, make plays, and matchup against team's top scorers at this level.

Even he didn't play last game and neither did Brisbois.

No, I was definitely thinking of Truscott. I must have missed that. But yeah he'll have to leapfrog McWard and Johansson as well. Maybe Wolanin too. The way the Canucks have set up their D, I think that D-Petey is a perfect replacement for Zadorov, Soucy and Cole if all 3 are still around next season…

Hes definitely going to be back. Cole and Zadorov are both UFA’s.

kettlevalley
So 8 GPA a few as a 7th dman. 2 assists 6 pim and plus 4. Hopefully lots of hits and blocks with that. But that is what we want from the kid.

kettlevalley
I am more excited about D Petey developing then anyone. I hope what I see when I watch him play is what he becomes. Tough, smart, good skater, decent puck mover who is a team first guy. To me, not developing more Bieksas and Tanevs has been the downfall of this team for the last decade.

He's going to be a gem if they develop him properly. I suspect they will not rush him this year. He may get a brief call up as a reward (assuming he plays well) to get his NHL salary for a few days but given how management works, they will want him in Abby getting top 4 minutes and PK. He is an old school stay at home dman, who hits to punish and can skate. I don't think there's much offensive upside but give me Bieksa without the points any day. dannydog
Really hoping D petey gets the opportunity to play up with Zads . I’d think it would do wonders with honing his aggressive play knowing Zads is there to back ya up. Zads is getting resigned.

They both play the left side...don't think he'll get any time playing in a pairing with Zads (if he resigns) If they were to resign Zads your left side would look like Hughes, Zads and Soucey. No room for D-Petey until Soucey contract is up...or gets a call up when injuries occur.

With D peteys playstyle i was thinking Zads would and should have more of an impact than any forward or goalie. My apologies

Wolanin and D-Pete have got a shot at it. Wolanin especially since we lack puck-movers on D.

The team must be pretty high on him internally. I don't expect D Petey to see the big club this year, he needs maximum reps and playing time in the AHL. Though with Abby just down the street and most of their games on the weekends, he could be called up for a Monday-Thursday to practice with the big club and not miss any AHL games. Gives him a few days of NHL salary too.

Pure961089
The Canucks player development is S tier. The improvements of our prospects is in another stratosphere compared to what we previously had. To compare the two would be considered bullying Benning, and I don't want to do that. Defenceman Elias Pettersson is 6'4 209 lbs and skates like the wind. He could play right now and be our 3rd best defenceman straight up.
