I'm fine with him working his way back up the lines, but healthy scratch is too far.

What's the point of pointing him into spots he doesn't fit?  They need him to succeed, even if it's short term.........imo, his days in Van are numbered and they need to up his value significantly.

I'm a bit surprised Kuzy wasn't back in last night. No excuse to not put him back against the sharts.

As you know I'm a big martial arts guy.

When I was training traditional Okinawan Karate I read a lot of books about it's origin. The word Karate translates to Empty Hand. It comes from a time during a weapons prohibition in Okinawa. The people there saved their culture by fighting for survival without access to proper weapons.

Many teachers talked about their different students...they put them into two categories, masters and specialists.

To become a master you have to be good in all aspects ... It is a longer road and not everyone can achieve it. In hockey terms, players like Miller are showing that potential. They can perform well in many different senarios, have many talents etc...

Most people have a hard time getting that balance. It should be always strived for however they can be very successful leaning into the traits that they can achieve. These are the specialists. They can become world champs, they can be the best warrior on the battle field. If they know themselves and are deployed correctly they can be great.

I guess I am trying to show my view on team builds. If you get me?

I think that was more Coles fault. Soft shot around the boards when he had all the time in the world.

He should have shot it hard up the boards to Miler who was breaking out for a quick up..

Or he could have held on to puck and not put it softly up the boards at all.. he mis judges and made a turn over..

The tying goal was 100% Miller's fault. After he won the draw he completely blew the zone. There was no reason for him to do that. He should have hovered around the blue line waiting for an outlet and provided support.

He left the dmen outnumber with no outlet option. He wanted offence and the goal was scored by the exact player Miller was supposed to cover.

Love the guy, but it was a really bad play on his part.

Damn some people, are you only happy, when the sky is grey?

After 10 years in darkness, instead of being ecstatic about the team being top of the league, its being mentioned about, which pace we have been playing at the last 20+ games...  sometimes words fail me

Is Petey the new scape goat?

Yes to both questions.

Some people look and see a goat. Others look and see a scapegoat.

Despite the loss, we're 1st in the league.

This season could be ... the goat.

Wow, how expectations have changed for this team. They get a point to move to the top of the NHL standings at the end of a tough road trip right before Xmas, and... it felt disappointing. Crazy. Last year I would have been over the moon to end the year with a road trip like that!

While the Canucks aren't bringing their A-game every night (because no team can do that), the structure and discipline that the coaching staff have instilled is keeping them in nearly every single game they play. I can probably count on one hand the number of games this season where the Canucks looked like they really had no chance to win. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season after a good Xmas break. I think they are only going to get better!

Tied for 3rd in point percentage. On pace for 113 points, which would be the 2nd best regular season total in franchise history. Astounding to think this could come off an 83-point season. A 30-point jump in points would be among the largest this team has ever seen.

We had an 18-point jump from Torts to Willie D in 2014-15 and that felt huge.

We had a 25 point increase from 58 points to 83 points from 1998-99 to 1999-00.

I'm fairly certain that the highest single-season increase is from 1990-91 to 1991-92 from 65 to 96 points--a 31-point increase.

These kinds of rebound seasons only happen about once every 20-30 years for most teams. Enjoy it, folks.

If Tocchet doesn't win this:

We're going to need Sidney Powell to head the committee to look into voter fraud.🥸

And he's not doing it as a result of Demko stealing a ton of games for us.

Those other clubs had old core players and squeezed out more points on their decline. Similar to the Kings right now. This club’s core is young and on the rise. The supporting cast has been upgraded a lot. Our core will be elite for many more years.

What gave you that idea?

All of the sudden, the fan base are experts at telepathy and knowing how a person feels.  I saw JT smash his stick in half yesterday.  You think he wants to leave the team?  These are competitive pros who expects high performance of themselves.  What they show to the public means very little.

If he wants out, he will leave.  If winning is what he wants, he'll see what the team is.  A playoff run will be important.  He's not going anywhere yet and team doesn't need to sign him right away.

Didn't this fan base go by facial expressions at one point on the old forum?

I'm just one fan.

Please dont blame everyone for my obviously ridiculous, blasphemous, moronic, out of this world pathetic, observation where I stated Petey seems unhappy.

This is a really cool Chat forum… It’s kind of cool how we’re all kind of bonded and united through our love for this hockey team… And yeah we come from different families backgrounds ethnic groups Occupations careers genders…religions or non-… But we all have this one thing in common that we really really want them to succeed and yeah it’s kind of fun actually…

You may be onto something.  Maybe Petey might be better suited on the wing like Mark Stone or Mitch Marner.  That's where he played most of his career.  The Canucks just forced him into a centre role because we lacked a legit 1C (until Miller became one -- and even he isn't a natural centre throughout his career).

Wasnt Petey the one who wanted to play C?

Yes Miller looked for a quick break out. But Cole did not need to make the play to turn over the puck.

The turn over caused the goal. Cole had possession and had time.

I agree with a 1 goal lead Miller didn't need to break out but that's a read he made and wanted a hard break out pass from Cole.

Either Cole makes a hard pass up the boards to Miller or he holds the puck. The worst thing to do was turn over the puck.

If you look at Kuzmenko's summer training, it was more of what he wanted and how he wanted to do things rather than what the team thought was best. There was a bit of a clash there between him and the organization.

This could all be still a ripple effect from that.

yeah, this is my feeling as well. the trip to bali is where the fissure started. toc wanted the players to take this off season extremely seriously and I think he felt that kuzy (and joshua) didn't hold up their ends of things.

dak has worked his way out of the doghouse.
