Metal Face Doom
Mik and Raty aren't landing Guentzel. It'll start with Hogs and a top prospect.

DPetey Mik Raty 2nd (2025) +Sweetener +Sweetener Similar to the Lindholm deal. No 1st in this package, but I feel DPetey is equivalent to a 1st. Blitz-Pix
Please, Please, Please.... Vegas, Hurricanes, Boston, Rangers somebody put us out of our misery and overpay for Guentzel. Actually, I don't really want anyone in our division (or confrence) to aquire him. LOL Everytime I think of losing Hogs and 1 or more of our best prospects I feel a little sick to my stomach.

Bardown
27 minutes ago, JeremyCuddles said: Also gotta keep in mind that I am pretty sure Vegas can make a Guentzel deal and not take back cap because of Stone's LTIR. They also have most of their picks, only missing this year's 4th rounder and next year's 7th. I am positive they can make a more enticing deal than Mik, Raty and a 2nd. Mik is flatly a cap dump at this point. Negative value at best. They can get so much more for Guentzel than that package. Dubas wants players over picks though. I don't think Vegas has much prospect capital...as they've been throwing away picks for years.
PhillipBlunt
Sounds like it's down to Vancouver and Vegas. Guentzel - Pettersson - Lindholm Hoglander - Miller - Boeser Joshua - Blueger - Garland Suter - Lafferty - Greenway/Duhaime Podkolzin

Vegas gets Guentzel, Pittsburgh gets some roster folks/prospects from a 3rd team, and that 3rd team gets Vegas' picks.

Guentzel - Pettersson - Lindholm Hoglander - Miller - Boeser Joshua - Blueger - Garland Suter - Lafferty - Greenway/Duhaime Podkolzin Im guessing it Milkeyev + Podz + Aman Milky to balance cap and like Kuzmenko we get flexibility, Milky is also not old and can play Podz and Aman can play now easily in bottom 6 and have up side I rather not move podz but I like Bains in Van he seems to be a quick learner, podz has had a bad concussion but does look good, I think Raty has upside too but is young, would prefer to move Karlsson, Aman, Klimo over podz, Raty, Bains but we will see.... also maybe move on from Mcward or hirose ? Captain insano
2 hours ago, Mike Vanderhoek said: I don't see Vancouver dumping Mikheyev on anyone. He has played well and will be part of the picture here in Vancouver's Playoff run. I can see the Canucks signing Kessel, very slight chance they bring another depth physical forward, likely not and more than likely via the trade market add a depth veteran defenseman. The team is pretty set otherwise. He’s making near 5 million a year and hasn’t scored in over 30 games….. even if he was a defensive specialist (he’s not but solid defensively) what he’s bringing to the table could be found for 1-1.5 m… I liked the player that came in but ppl throwing the excuse of an injury he developed almost 2 years ago is not a valid excuse of his production. At what point do you fold you hand and take the loss? JTs window is now and the next couple years it’s time to get full value out of our salary
Bobby James
I think I'd rather they skip on Guentzel if he's just going to be a rental (I also don't see how Van can afford him long term). Getting Lindholm was a great add (on paper) and showed our commitment to this season's group. However, we also need to plan for the next 7/8 years and depleting our picks and prospects for 1 run is not a good idea imo. I think we can move a mid round pick or a B level prospect and get a middle 6 forward or an energy guy for the bottom 6.
RWJC
1 hour ago, Blitz-Pix said: You have to go for it....We're already going for it You can’t just sit on your ass and hope next year is better.... Desmith, Zadorov, Lindholm is not sitting on your ass. It's being proactive and making additions in season trying to avoid bidding wars at the TDL. I suspect depth players would help though if we're still going to add. BB6 up after next season, Demko thet, and a slew of players playing very well in their prime and at affordable contracts...That's always going to the the case IMO Someone is always gonna need a new contract or out preform there old one, which is why we're gonna need those prospects and their ELC. BTW I agree with your post and it makes alot of sense, just playing devils advocate. The argument you make to do something, is also the agrgument why we should not throw all our chips in. JMO I hear ya. I just think that we’ve reached the pinnacle of chemistry and buy in amongst this core/roster and with our key players playing at level or above, there is no better time. Again, we’re amongst the top NHL (regular season) clubs…the only way to know what you have in post is to ensure the team is best equipped now going in. and for the record, I’m not pro trading fro Guentzel. I also think there are value adds elsewhere that can be had for less of a cost. Eg. Greenway, Toffoli (if available, and Borgen. Something along those lines provides more stability in a playoff run than a single sniper, imho.

Obviously compared to last season he's not scoring as much but game in game out he puts in a very solid defensive effort. Not sure if that's enough for top six minutes, but anyone who thinks he's a trash player is just an idiot. His card last year: 1
