 Agree with you on Suter.

With regards to Lindholm, what if acquired him as a rental like we did with Toffoli? (or as the Rangers did with Patty Kane?)  Only sign Lindholm long term in the minor event that our negotiations with Petey do not go well.

Well we could trade Petey and then sign Lindholm for free in the summer. Or make the trade now and trade Petey at the deadline.

If Chicago wants to trade their 2024 1st and 2025 1st for Petey and we can draft Celebrini then that might be the best trade we could make.

All interesting scenarios for sure but the Canucks should only move Petey as an absolute last resort imo since trading him during the season (or at any point) would cause too many shockwaves (and likely distract the team from what has been a very good season).

I like the idea of “Tyler Toffoli part II” with Elias Lindholm but that’s just me.

ps - I’m going into EA sports territory here but do you think a guy like Joel Eriksson EK could be had?

According to moneypuck they actually are the 11th best line in the league atm

lol they have great expected goals for which is great that means they are dominating their opponent. ie other teams 3rd line. So you are telling me they’ll dominate 20 other teams top line? lol.. context matter.. quality of competition matters.. they are one the best 3rd liners right now I’ll give you that.

lol.. emptying out the cupboard for a delusional cup run?? sure jenner is under contract for 2 more season.. but we need to stop bringing in these career 30-40 point guys and slapping them on the top 6.. jenner is injury prone the last time he finished a full season was like 7-8 years ago.. his career high is 49 points 8 years ago and his last 4 season as low as 24 to as high as 45.. not sure what part of those stat screams a top 6 to u.. that's even worse than garland.. we need like a consistent 60+ point guy in the top 6 if you are going to get rid of kuzmenko.. having a bunch of 20-40 point career guy in your top 6 will not help with your struggling top 2 lines.

the canucks are not a contender.. they are not in the position to be trading away picks and prospect. jenner had 2 good season but full of injuries and then a bunch of mediocre poor seasons prior. the guy already missed 11 games this season.. 14 last season 23 the season before and 15 the shortened season.. and the cost is a 1st and a high prospect?? easy pass

Jenner is a goal scorer. Last 3 seasons (including this one) he would have been in the top 4 or 5 goal scorers for the Canucks whilst playing against the toughest competition from other teams and averaging 45% oZ starts at ES. He is 100% a top 6 player. Good luck finding a better top 6 player with term on a lower cap hit for less than a 1st + a high prospect.

Yes, he is currently injured after taking a puck to the face, these are the sort of things that happen when you go to net, screen the goalie, block shots and make big hits. I am sure every other player would have been fine taking that puck to the face and Jenner is just an injury prone pussy...

Mikheyev   Pettersson   Lekkerimaki

Guentzel    Miller            Boeser

Now this is a top 6 that can win the Stanley Cup...

Lek won't be ready til 2026.

But we won't be able to afford to sign Guentzel in 2025 anyway cause he will be $7.5m+ on a long term contract, unless you don't want to retain Hronek or Garland or Zadorov.

Then 2026 comes round and Boeser is due a raise, the OEL buy out starts maxing out. Realistically we can't afford that top 6 in either 2025 or 2026.

Lekkerimäki is a year away, so would be 2025 not 2026.  Just in time for Boeser to come off the books.  So we could either re-sign Boeser or use the money on defence.  At the end of the day, we need a minimum of one more top 6 forward.  If the Lotto line sticks together that could be a 2C that we need instead of a winger.

Finding a 2C is harder than finding a winger. Jenner could play that role but he is not an assist machine, he is more of goal scorer.

I still don't think we can afford Guentzel + Boeser next season. So your proposed top 6 is not realistic, even if Lek is ready next season.

But I don't see Lek ready for NHL next season. He will maybe be ready for the 2025-26 season.

So missing 15-20% every season is not an issue right? There are plenty of player that does the same thing and you don’t see them miss like 15-20 games every season? A 1st and A prospect for a 30 year old guy that’s literally guaranteed he’s going to miss 15-20 games a season coz he’s not a pussy gimme a break. Did he take a puck to the face every season? Is that why he’s injured every single season? You want to get younger in this league but instead you want to waste high end prospects and picks to get older for guys that’s close to if not near the end of their peak lol. Ep blocks quite a few shots he screens goalie in front of the net. You don’t see him injured from that in 5+ seasons?

If boeser comes off the book I don’t think this team can afford to use that money on more defence. Hughes at 7.85 hronek prolly close to that. Assuming they keep zadorov and we still have soucy and more than likely Myers replacement this year with his 6mil we definitely need investment in the top 6. Let say kuz is gone and boeser is gone we really only have 2 legitimate top 6 on this team out of 6 spots. Lekkerimaki hopefully can fill one but that’s a big ask. As a 20 21 year old.
