I wonder what our club record is on this? or have we smashed it already?

Couldn't tell you. Not in general paying too much attention to stats until they gets highlighted. But it takes some doing to not lose a single game leading after 2...

Also: How about that Miller guy, huh? 😉

Your boyfriend ain’t too shabby.

Even I’ve come completely onto Team MillerTime from the days of my critiques.

His elevation of gameplay over the last two years or so and his hustle, compete, and execution has been a pleasure to witness.

what about Garly?

Would that even be a thought anymore?

Hes been one of our best players. Not to mention the emergence of Joshua has lessened the need for a powerforward on the bottom 6.

We need a Crouse/Tuch level player if we’re going all in.

To be fair, Bure played at a time when even having a guy like Gino watching his back wasn't enough to prevent guys similiar to Brad Marchment for 'head hunting' after him.  Scott Stevens at least partially got into the HHOF with his patented (and then legal) headshot hits.

That is very true... Doubt you'd see Petey smash an elbow into someones face like that as well, although Miller might 😂...

I think it would be for cap reasons.

those guys would be great, just might be untouchable. Greenway is a big mean dude, we could use more of that.

I agree but I think we’re past overspending for bottom 6 players.

Garland drives play on the third line, not sure Greenway would do the same.

There is literally an embellishment rule.

The ref 100% didn’t call it because of his dramatic twirl. I agree it was absolutely a trip. He didn’t get the call because he embellished.

Yeah, we were lucky there. Usually you see both guys get called there.

You can see when he gets put off balance he has the choice to try to stay up right or commit to the flip. I'm not trying to side with the Devils in any way, shape, or form, (so please let's not start an argument) but sometimes it's better to just go with it as trying to stay up right could also lead to injury. Anyways we're lucky he did.

I'm sure Devil's fans are still bitching about it right now though. :frantic:

No he'd be with Bluegar or Suter. I sure like the idea of Joshua on one bottom line, Greenway on the other one.

I do agree tho, I'd hope for something for the top 6 more.

His wrap around goal was just awesome! Pure power move. Wicked.

One of , if not my favourite Canuck.

I can only image the amount of work he’s done to get to where he is. Likely overcome many obstacles and nay sayers the entire way.

I’ve got a gut feeling about Conar. He could well be our guy that produces a goal of two when we most desperately

need them to clinch a game or series. I’m glad we have him.

Trading him would  be a mistake imo.
Just like Sam Gamgee was instrumental in destroying the ring, I believe Conar Garland has an important yet unseen role to play in the near future.

Think lot of applauds should go towards Tocchet, who seems to have turned him into a proper on ice captain. Constantly dictating and directing plays on the ice... it is really good to see...

Good point! The Tocchet influence has had a positive impact on this team ... Miller is definitely in that list.

Another example of why all the Kuz crying and blaming Tocchet was emotionally over the top and overblown.

I have no problem with paying Petey. The problem is whether he’s trying to squeeze every last dollar from the organization and limiting the options for better supporting cast. $10-$10.5 mil/year is a lot of money. If he leaves that extra $1 mil/year might be the difference between us winning the Cup and coming short. I keep on bringing up the examples of Oilers and Leafs that overpay a few players and then not being able to close the holes down the lineup - that’s what we will be if we go too high on Petey.

Ideally Petey signs for $10 million. But that isn’t going to happen. The NHLPA won’t even allow it. Pat Brisson is the top agent in the NHL. He will certainly get maximum value for Petey.

I still remember when the Sedins were in Sweden and Brian Burke was courting them to go to Toronto. They ended up signing in Vancouver not once but twice. Their last contract really put a dent into our overall cap structure.

Honestly, if Petey signs at around $11.5 million in 4 years that number won’t seem that crazy. By that time you will have McDavid at $16 million. Which is pretty much the same spread they have right now give or take.

Zadorov wasn't scratched, he is day-to-day with an injury but yes, Donkey is playing very well, really coming into his own as a depth D player. I like Jules play and he keeps getting better. Bodes well for the Canucks D.

Amazing to think not that long ago, like last season, the Canucks D included the vaunted Stillman / Burroughs pairing. Not that they were bad, just that this years Canucks D core is just a WEE BIT better.

Forgot to respond to that second part amigo...

I wonder, how Stillman/ Burroughs pairing or other pairing that hasn't worked out over the years wild have done, with the staff we have now for the Dmen? Myers and Juulsen seems to have benefitted immensely from working with them?

It's as simple as that.

What about Chandler Stephenson. I think his contract expires after this season and can they afford to give him a raise consider William Karlssons contract?

He's had 2 60+ pt seasons recently

I thought the same and glad that didn't happen. Goes to show the refs are making multiple split second decisions in a row to try and get the call right - not always successful of course, but then they are human as well.

Ref #1: Crap, Trip by Miller ... they are down a player ... nice dive, too bad this isn't a pool ... 2 minutes for Miller / 2 minutes for the diving specialist ... nah, kill the momentum Devils have right now ... game almost over ... let them play ... cancel both out against each other ... play on ........... total time about 1 second.

Ref #2: some version of Ref #1

Nice win in the end and oh ya, GO CANUCKS GO!!!

Agree 💯

If Hughes wasn’t the Captain, Miller would be my full on vote.

Tocchet has gotten this group of players to play a game that he knows and believes is the right way to win a Cup, or at least give themselves a good opportunity to win it.

Management is on board, Coaching staff are on board, and the Players are buying in and on board.

It’s been awhile when, from top to bottom, this team were all acting from the same playbook.

Agree with you. Miller was my original choice to be captain but I was totally open to Hughes ... and he's been absolutely fantastic! Right choice!

And I've also been saying for a while Miller will make a great coach if he chooses to go that route.

In my humble opinion, if we only drafted Matthew Tkachuk instead of OJ is the same argument or statement. Drafting MT could have led to not having Petey and/or Huggy. We didn't have Tocchet / Foote / Gonchar / etc. at the beginning of last year so anything I say (or anyone else) would be pure speculation. BUT, having Tic-Toc, Gonch and Footy would absolutely have elevated their game, however they weren't there and we have (thankfully in my ever so humble opinion) moved on to a bigger, better D.

Time to find a way to bring Reinhart home in the offseason. He enjoyed his time in the sun.

McDavid left some money in the table to sign his long term contract. If that is the case $11.5+ million only makes sense if Pettersson signs long term
