flat land fish
The piece floating around about Demko having an inoperable injury. Would that be something hip related? Curious what it could be if he can "learn to play through it" does that mean a style of play change?

All reports I’ve seen indicate it’s something to do with the backside of his knee - whatever that means

Curious what it could be if he can "learn to play through it" does that mean a style of play change? I would imagine he will need to switch a few things up. Great hockey players find a way. Yzerman had that knee and the surgery needed would be career ending. Changed things up and found a way to play through it. Peter Forsberg developed an abnormal arch in his feet, that surgery couldn't fix, changed things up and found a way to play through it. Demko will have to dig deep and figure this out. fanfor42
Who else remembers the article before last season saying Demko is a ticking time bomb who will lose his career due to a hip problem and should be traded asap? Can anyone find this?

What??? wow misled by the Canuck org. and their doctors--- again? Day to day, becomes week to week, and sometimes week to week becomes playing tonight. Bretzky
This all gives me the shivers, it’s a bad sign for A NOT VERY GOOD future situation for our #1 goalie Demko. The whole offseason to heal and rehab and the message is he’s still basically day to day at best? Sounding to me like he may be damaged goods.…Shitty! The way he played goal may be not attainable sustainably in the future, sorry to say but something about this injury sounds as though it turned something into glass somewhere in his lower body. Hope I’m wrong…and also hope it’s not career threatening! Edited Monday at 12:44 AM by Bretzky

Hard to judge that yet, personally I'm glad he hasn't pushed it and is taking the time necessary to come back 100% The last thing we need is for him to re-injure and make it worse, besides, Silovs is quite capable of taking the reigns until he gets back plus we don't have to play Demko nearly as much during the season and have Demko fresher for the playoffs. The silver lining is with Demko out during the playoffs it showed Silovs is up to the task of being a qualified backup with the capability of being number one for a case like this to start the season. However yes let's hope this hasn't turned into something really bad...
Rip The Mesh
Making the first steps For Demko may well be the most significant ones he'll make. It's easy to worry but not easy to feel right again..

If it takes time to heal up and it might or might not heal. Shut him down for the season and see specialists. It does no one any good leaving it as a mystery and "playing through it.". Alflives
Sure sounds like Demko is a very big question mark. Silovs is the guy to hoist the Cup, as our goalie, June 2025?
Dr. Crossbar
The fact that Demko has full confidence that he'll get back to 100 per cent is the best case scenario given the uncertainty. T%^he last thing we need is to rush him back. Fortunately we have Silovs who is another year more mature with even more invaluable experience. This could be so much worse, as we've all endured in years past. I'm confident in Sliovs while Demko is out.

With Demko's health troubles being a thing in recent years I seriously question whether we have our goalie of the future in house already. An Askarov tier goalie prospect would be nice, but we'd have been hard pressed to have beaten out San Jose.
Dr. Crossbar
Silovs' development has been unconventional and unique. He's been forced to play over his head in high pressure situations three years in a row, passing with flying colours each time. There's no indication that he can't handle the next level. On the contrary ...
Jess
Silovs has had really hot moments, but like most backups, struggles with consistency. At the end of the day, Silovs last year was a sub .900 goalie and Demko was a .910+ goalie, largely because Demko is more reliable night in and night out. That said, Silovs is still quite young, so there's considerable chances he'll improve. This just sort of feels like when Auld had to replace Cloutier in 2005-06 and we all knew he wouldn't be good enough. Cloutier was no star, but he was at least a starting goaltender--Auld was a backup.

nergish
That’s not Demko! That’s alternate universe evil goatee Demko. In all seriousness, it sounds like we will need Silovs to fill in out the gate.
