Must be so demoralizing! Refs can suck it! They were pathetic the last 40 mins. Amazing to see no garbage goals in the mix, and so awesome for Petey and Hogs highlight reel ones. Bummer for Demko on the third one, looked like he left a lot of room there, but he had an otherwise solid game. His primary asset is his shot, scoring goals, and right now it appears he's treating the puck like it was a grenade and wanting nothing to do with it - trying to dish it off whenever it gets near him. Man they take a lot of abuse behind our net to get control of the puck. Taking a hit to make a clear. Awesome. They should roll Juul's in and out to give guys a break here and there. They settle things down back there and add to our clearances. I like our control of the "guts", active sticks, constant pressure on the puck. Shows a great system training, good practices. eg. Suter diving at the Blue line to clear a puck. Our defensive reads are veteran level, thanks to Gonchar and Footie. Petie and Hoagie's goal at the end of the second, whoohoo! Took the wind out of the audience! Demko looked way more relaxed than last game, good for him. Was liking the suggestion for Greenway, but that might cost a 2nd and a vet player like Kuz. But you know what? We might have a Greenway type already. Did you see Myer's at the top of the 3rd period? He was RWing it, carrying the puck in behind the boards in their zone, and keeping it in! Using his speed and long reach. He intimidated the rags D back there. We should try it. Let Juul's get some ice time and let Myer's pinch full shifts. Could be fun. I believe that PA / JR are working on a solution to make this more than a casual option. So far most of their moves have been stellar or at least exceeded expectations. My evidence is the Canucks knocking on Heaven's Door (President's Trophy) at this, the almost halfway point of the season. There must be a GM out there that can be fleeced a bit so I would expect some money out one door and a player money in another with pieces added on both sides of the equation to make it work. If right now the transaction was 2024 1st, 2nd and a 3rd plus 2 A-prospects for a couple of rentals in exchange with a date in the SCF against one of Toronto / NYR / Boston / <insert your favorite opponent> I would hazard a guess no one says no ... but then that is why we don't get pay the big bucks to make those decisions given no one has a crystal ball. However, we do pay the bucks to support the team so in a way we are part of the equation. Tocchet really likes Jewels and how far he has come in the 25 or so games he slotted in. That bodes well for the D when you have Jewels and Fried Green Tomatoes in the press box while options exist in Abby to call up if for some reason half the D corps suddenly went on IR all at once. I'm never worried if the other team scores first or makes a big push... we almost always seem to have an answer. This team has some swagger and I think they will make noise in the playoffs. I do, when I bet a friend of mine during the 2010-2011 season where I took the Canucks every game and he took whoever they were playing at $100 a game - he was a Boston fan and I caught him at a weak moment. Then in the finals I took the Canucks and he took everyone else at $500 a series ... got paid after the dreaded game 7 (we all know that one) and went to the casino with said friend. Blackjack was my friend that night, LOL, at least softened the sting a bit. This season is shaping up to be a great one based on expectations going into the season being nowhere near where we are now. After the last decade or so, what a time to be a Canucks fan ... we have suffered some lean years, so lets enjoy this to the fullest. GO CANUCKS GO.
