21 and 17 pts in 2 years with Van while being our top shut down dman shows the play didn't die on his stick like you claimed .25ppg and .38ppg respectively.

Schenn was a fantastic role player, but he still wasn't a top 4 defenseman in Vancouver. Even though he was paired with Hughes he was still 5th in average TOI among defensemen in 2021-22 and 6th in 2022-23.

Lol ok... pass the puck to Hughes, stand still, and rack secondary assists. He's a good dman and he's solid at what he does --> block shots and hit everything that moves, clear the crease. No way in hell is he top 4. Before playing beside 2 phenomenal puck moving dmen, he was waiver fodder. It isn't a coincidence.

He's an excellent defensive defenceman, which is needed in every top 4.  People seriously underrate the value of defencemen who can actually play their position properly.

You're completely discrediting what it means to be a top 4 dman. Players like Schenn are dime a dozen. You can get physical dmen to log 15 minutes a night on waivers, which is how we acquired him. You are entirely ignoring the fact that the sole reason he is in the NHL today is because Hughes elevated him way beyond what he could do. He then cashed in, on a deal that literally highlights that he isn't valued as a top 4 D (2.75 mil on the open market)... and went to play with Josi.

He is good at 3 things; hits, blocks, and physicality. We have that in Juulsen. Is he a top 4 D? Not even remotely.

Didn't we already do that with Zadorov?

No, that was a move to bolster the roster and was made mostly out of opportunity and due to Soucy's injury.

I think there's still more coming that will solidify the team for a long playoff run.

No matter how you discredit him he's generally not a black hole offensively though even without Hughes he more often averages 10-15 pts and as high as 22 points while being extremely reliably defensively even career average is .20 ppg and that is with the 4 or 5 years he was still figuring things out at the NHL level.

He was within 50 seconds to a minute of 4th in ATOI basically a rotation between him Bear/Hamonic over 2 years.

We have 8  steady d that play the Tocc way

I don’t think we need any D right now. We have nhl depth at D for the first time in forever.
another top six forward that fits with Tocc

Until/if we move Myers, nope. If we find a taker for Myers though...giddyup.

He did play a lot last year on our team.  Doesn't mean it was necessarily a good thing.  Here's what he looked like at the time of the trade.

Analysts warned others about that unnaturally high finishing metric.  Turns out they were right.  Sometimes they get things right.

Ok but he’s still not a black hole offensively, he’s just not an offensive dman either.

The eye test showed everything that needed to be shown. He was great playing shotgun to a generational talent by providing physicality and a decent first pass D to D under pressure. He's doing the same thing with another elite dman in Josi. If we had an actual top 4 D, or if Nashville did, they would play that person instead in the same position.
