Patrick Roy has been named Head Coach of the New York Islanders

Recommended Posts

Not sure if anyone saw it but the islanders lost a game to the preds a week or so ago. Got scored on with a few seconds left. Lambert, his staff and  all the players on the bench (besides Bo) walked down the tunnel and left the 5 guys on the ice to finish up.

Kinda figured Lou would be making a change when I saw that.

A coaching change was not unexpected, but I’m shocked they went with Roy.

Surprised Horvat wasn’t lobbying for Boudreau, so he can pad his stats again.

Why? It's not a contract year.

Wow. That’s a dysfunctional team.

Considering Lou is looking to retire soon it should fit Roy's plans of being GM/Coach

I thought when he went to Toronto in 2015 at age 73 he was taking a segue to retirement.  He's 81 now and still full of piss and vinegar.  I'll believe it when I see it.

I do wonder if Roy's coaching style will last in today's NHL. Is he a tough love kind of guy like Torts or is he too old school like Babs?
