Ukraine needs this war to be unpopular in Russia Just dreaming but, man if you could drop a Fat Boy on that square, with all those high ranking military officers, and Putin, it would set Russia back 50 years. The trouble with that idea, is that it starts the nuclear war........bad idea!

SilentSam
this IS the mentality being dealt with: Startup in Russian: the mother of a Russian soldier killed in the war in Ukraine spent the bereavement payments on the purchase of an apartment, but there was not enough to repair the old house in the village, so she sent her second son to the war, too. Zhanna Polupanova is the mother of the terminated occupier. She has already received all the payments for her dead son: she bought herself a brand new apartment for the bereavement payments. Now, she also wants her country house repaired. So the mother is soon sending her youngest son to war, too.

A big concern is whether Russia can amp up their heavy equipment production. Ukraine has been hitting many of their plants not just the oil refineries. Many comments about how the Russian kit has improved in the past 6 months. If the soldiers are going to the front with better equipment then one might assume that their ability to improve their production capacity might be there as well. IMHO Ukraine has to be resupplied asap and they have to be given higher end support for air coverage and the ability to attack further into occupied territory.

Popular Post Satchmo
Senate passes $95 billion package sending aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan after months of delay The Senate on Tuesday passed a long-delayed $95 billion package after both sides of Capitol Hill have struggled for months to send aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. The legislation next goes to President Joe Biden to sign it into law. Its passage is a significant victory for the US president, congressional Democrats and Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell, who long pushed to send aid to Ukraine even as the right wing of his party increasingly soured on support for Kyiv. https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/23/politics/senate-vote-foreign-aid/index.html 6 2 2

Satchmo
Russian deputy defence minister Timur Ivanov accused of taking bribes A Russian deputy defence minister has been accused of taking bribes and remanded in custody by a court in Moscow. Timur Ivanov, who denies the charges, is accused of accepting bribes "on a particularly large scale". Appointed to the defence ministry in 2016, Mr Ivanov, 47, has been responsible for Russia's military infrastructure projects. In 2022, the Anti-Corruption Foundation (ACF), the group founded by late opposition leader Alexei Navalny, accused Mr Ivanov of participating in "corruption schemes during construction in the territories of Ukraine occupied by Russia". In particular, it said he had profited from construction projects in the Ukrainian port city of Mariupol, much of which was destroyed by Russian bombing in the months following the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Mr Ivanov's arrest marks a rare move against a member of Russia's governing elite, many of whom are believed to have used their positions to amass vast personal fortunes. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-68886406
