I met my hockey heroes Henrik and Daniel Sedin for the first time, and they signed my favorite jersey of all time! (Henrik Sedin 40th anniversary jersey). Mikael Samuelsson was also there and I asked him to sign it as well, he is a SUPER nice guy, very patient and caring. Great day!!! Oh yeah I forgot to say, I told Mikael Samuelsson he was one of the best players on the 2011 team, and in hilarious fashion he went "Mmmmmmmmm....." Great guy. 2

Call me old fashioned, but I think it's the right thing to do. I met a couple Canucks, in particular I remember Linden, when I was young and it was such a huge moment for me. I've been fortunate enough to meet Linden a few times, and he's always been so kind. Like it or not, these guys are idolized by kids and a half minute can become a core memory. 27 minutes ago, Alflives said: And you were 100% right to do that. The true fans are the kids. They love the players and see them as superheroes. The players should always respect the kids. Very true, and good points. As a kid there was nothing more important than meeting my hockey heroes, so I totally understand and agree. There's also a place and time and although unfortunate for anyone who was only there for the single day today, the reality is the majority of the players didn't sign autographs or socialize with fans. It's interesting - it's a public event in that the practices are open to the fanbase, but there was very little if nothing from the org in terms of public engagement. No simple handout info sheet providing player info, no social media presence, nothing. There was a merch section though, of course. As far as I see it, the org/mgmt isn't concerned about the public responsibilty aspect of their presence here right now. It's solely about prepping a team to be successful, staying focused, and ignoring the periphery a bit if required. Something we've seen echoed from mgmt in their approach. I was in the section with the coaching staff, mostly the Abby crew. They weren't lounging, they were watching quite intently. No casual approach, just directly assessing the talent in front of them and making notes. PAJR has a mandate from the top down that the mentality had to change. I think the so-called country club aspect is truly dead. That was evident today. It's not a diss to anyone, it's a service to the fanbase in a way. Those that were there today were privileged to catch this event, and like I said, there will be time for the fans to be addressed by this org before they leave. But right now anyone questioning the overall attitude change and or accessibility needs to look back and remember how little success we've had in recent years, and that this mgmt group has a short window to pull off what they communicated to the fanbase as intentions for this club. Again, this is only a public event in that the doors are open for viewing. It's not a showcase. It's not a PR function. It's go time, through and through. I'll be honest - its refreshing and F'ing exciting seeing this "persona" emanating from this club right now. puckstopper
Thanks to all for the updates and everything! Leave JT alone! You need a grumpy focused SOB on any team, that's called leadership! Between the pipes i'd make up little lies about things like a tap on the helmet from team we were playing against, whisper it into his ear and he'd go ape-poo, he might score a goal or two for us! It's a cerebral game to, you need meanies being mean if you want to win!

Honkin Hronek
I love how the Goalies are divvied up. In group 1, Tolopilo and Ty Young are learning from Demko, who is one of the best of the best when he’s healthy, facing off against some of the best on the team. Group two has Silovs, DeSmith and Martin, which is essentially the battle for the backup job against guys who are fighting for spots on the team and in the top 6. In group 3 you have Sawchenko and Lemieux with a player group of AHL veterans, even tho they are in the ECHL this year. 1

The thing I like about this configuration (whether it’s Soucy or Cole with Hronek) is you can always just toss Hughes-Hronek together when you need a boost. (Assuming they have good chemistry that is.) 1

What kind of question is: "Were you able to be entirely happy for him, or were you disappointed at all?" And then he follows it up with: "Are you happy to have an A?"
