I really hope that he makes the Abby roster and doesn't have to go back to Russia. Dmitri Zlodeyev It is entirely unclear what is going on with Dmitri Zlodeyev, who the Canucks drafted in the sixth round in 2020. Zlodeyev signed a two-year contract with Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk in the KHL this summer but the KHL season has already begun and Zlodeyev is here in Canada. There are rumours that he has been released from his KHL contract, which would make sense, but weirdly no confirmation of this release can be found anywhere and the Canucks have kept quiet about him. It appears that the Canucks will continue to evaluate Zlodeyev at the Abbotsford Canucks camp to see if he's worthy of at least an AHL contract. He should be. The 21-year-old centre is a capable two-way player who gets in hard on the forecheck and plays with a feisty edge. Whether Zlodeyev has a future in the Canucks organization remains to be seen but it's definitely one of the stranger stories of training camp. https://www.vancouverisawesome.com/canucks-hockey/camp-cuts-canucks-send-the-abbotsford-canucks-back-to-abbotsford-7601787 2
AatuD2
I can't find anything about the group that was practicing today. Those players won't be playing tonight... trying to figure out our lineup against Edmonton.

Love having more centers in the system and the kid looks like a good'r. Zlodeyev is as complete a two-way center as you’ll find. He’s a quick, upright skater with timely bursts into open ice, but there’s a significant level of violence to the way he moves; almost like a tiger increasing its rate of speed as it locks in on its prey. Zlodeyev is a big hitter and puts opposing defensemen on notice once they collect the puck with him bearing down on them. Not only can he run the power play from the half wall, but also anchor the top penalty-killing unit and win almost 57 percent of his faceoffs. – Steve Kournianos, The Draft Analyst 4 1
Goal_thecup
He's gonna be a standout in Abby. I recall a few years ago he cited Podkolzin as a major influence in terms of attitude toward the game and being a teammate. I'm sure they'll be good together in Abbotsford. Having a player like that with skilled players is often the smart way to design a line as he’s a puck retrieval player who can get the puck to the finishers. construction of a lineup is about roles not about hey I need 6 players in my top 6 who will get me 70-100pts. this is true, i thought hoglander would be the placeholder, but if its PDG im ok with that, its probably better to keep the placeholder on the line, assuming Mikheyev will be replacing PDG when healthy... building chemistry takes time
