Popular Post Provost
I have been saying for a while that a Lindholm/Tanev deal just makes the most sense. Getting someone like Ek is a bit of a pipe dream. The other bonus of Lindholm is that it gives you some leverage back in a Petterson negotiation. He isn’t Petterson, but him signed to a fairly reasonable deal plus the return for Petterson could be more than Petterson. You give him a deadline of the draft to come to terms or you have to start shaping the roster for the future. If no reasonable deal, you move him for an absolute boatload of assets. The $12.5 million you would have spent on him can get you both Lindholm and Tanev on new deals. Maybe then you can afford to pay some of the increases for our bottom six you want to keep. The assets you get back for Petterson are going to be a top young NHL player (like Jiricek calibre), a good roster player, and likely 1-2 1st round picks. That gives you a good pipeline and more than makes up for the cost of acquiring the two guys in trade. 3

Brzustewicz is a nice prospect, yes, but there is time to replace his skill set in the timeline.

Wing
I have no problem including Hunter B in the deal. We have to give up something to make this happen. With our recent drafting I trust we'll find more gems in third round. 1

Mac
The #Flames have acquired Andrei Kuzmenko, a 2024 first round pick, Hunter Brzustewicz, Joni Jurmo and a conditional 2024 fourth round pick from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Elias Lindholm:

Jess
Getting both Lindholm and Tanev is gonna be very expensive and it's scary considering that both are pending UFAs. This deal could make or break a lot of Allvin's legacy. If we bust in the playoffs and both guys leave, that's an unmitigated disaster. If we win the Cup, it's a huge success. There are also alternatives where we re-sign one or both guys and then we'll see how it goes longer term. Hunter B could end up hurting badly, but honestly, I think the team feels free to lose him based on how well D Petey and Willander are playing. If it's both Tanev and Lindholm, then we need to move out more than Kuzy and Brzustewicz, as we'd be taking in way too much cap. A significant roster player with notable cap would be going back to the Flames, unless they are retaining for some reason, which I don't see as likely.
