People forgot Hunter didn't even made the US national team that went on to win gold.

I think he has the potential to be a great powerplay QB.

He’s gonna have to earn the trust of a coach first though.

Either way a powerplay specialist is way down the list of things we need.

That speaks more to the depth at D the Americans had. You dont pick him when you have a better version of him in Hutson

Still; A first round pick and Podkolzin; Is a bit of a gamble IMO. On Elias Lindholm. (https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=152765 )

I'm a little sceptical.

That's the thing... Lindholm's 29, having a shitty year, and he's a UFA who demanded a trade out of Calgary.

I'm going to let it slide and see how this all plays out, but some of these asinine proposals are out there, to say the least.

Let's hope this plays out well.

Great trade! Great player! Cup of Bust!!

Some on here are never happy and have to complain about something. It’s like they should never move forward (go from good to great) or just go for it. Just collect picks until the end of time and stay where they are.

I am surprised about how many posters are crying about this trade?

Everyone (supposedly) wants the Canucks to win a cup. But then half of them cry when a proven winner GM tries to do that.

Pathetic lol.

The armchair GMing that goes on here makes people think you can acquire players for nothing.

Im thinking some people think that package should have landed us Crosby.

Isn't that what TB did?😀

IIRC, they sent him for surgery that had revovery time calculated right for the playoffs. Not quite the same.

The Pearson fiasco was just JR/PA playing 3D chess and setting the table for this move 😂

Lindholm is different than Bo.  Lindholm is the guy they were trying to develop Bo into; a Selke candidate.  But he can also score 42 goals if playing with offensively gifted players

Horvat's best year 38-32-70 -1

Kesler's                   41-32-72 +24

Lindholm's              42-40-82 +61

Lindholm this year: 9g 23a 32p -6

Horvat this year: 20g 25a 45p +6

Monahan this year: 13g 22a 35p -10

Lindholm is closer to Monahan than he is Horvat.

Gillis didn't go 'all in' enough when he had the chance imho.  That was his mistake.

Now this could end up laying a large fart but that's why you pay the GM to be making these types of assessments.  Their tenure on the club will depend on how the results turn out.

Y.  Should have in hindsight for sure.  Can't have enough D men.

Gillis got Ballard, but coach AV didn't trust him and he wasn't used much.  Tanev was still a rookie/call up.

Horvat has Barzal who’s a stud.

Monahan is getting top minutes with guys like Suzuki and Caufield.

Who is Lindholm playing with in Calgary? Huberdeau? Mangiapani?

Ok, I just Google'd and the first article that came up was Sportnets saying the draft classes are similar with 2024 having nearly double the number of highly rated 1st round defence prospects as 2023.

Your Google is broken...

Canucks Management knew they made a mistake and didn't double down that's true leadership instead of keeping Kuz they got rid of the problem

Kuz was a product of the previous regime.  He just doesn't fit with the teams system now and thinks that if he shows them how he can score, that they'll let him play the way he wants.  If he wont fit in, he gets traded.  It's the right move.  This is not to say that he can't be a 30 goal man on a team that he fits with.  Good luck Kuz.

I haven't read through many posts (there's so many haha) but while Brzust has been a great story this year, and like many I was very intrigued by him, I think this is another coup by us.

From my perspective, this trade isn't about what we gave up, but more about what we didn't give up.

Willander, Podz, Hogz, D-Pete, and very importantly Lekker are still with us.,,,and Kuz's $5.5 is off the books.

It's really Kuz (an asset we acquired for free, who was never going to flourish here again), a very late 1st, and Hunter (which may or may not pan out at NHL level).....for a top flight 2-way centre in Lindholm, that every team would want in their lineups.

Worrying about what Hunter will do, or who the 1st will be (maybe years down the road) is quite frankly silliness, when all that should be considered is the here and now....our roster has improved significantly.

Kuz out/Lindholm in....that's a big improvement if we look at it through rational eyes.

It's all about the now, and cup aspirations...we are a formidable team, that the rest of the league will fear even more now.

Great trade. Well done again by PA/JR and FA too.

So 2 picks, 2 prospects and Kuzmenko for a 29-year-old on contract year. Overpaid much?

Almost like it costs a fair bit to get a guy who in all likelihood will help put us over the top. Didn't even give up Lekkerimaki or Willander or anyone from Abby. That's a huge bonus.
