[Trade] Canucks Acquire Elias Lindholm from Calgary for Andrei Kuzmenko, Hunter Brzustewicz, Joni Jurmo, 2024 1st and Conditional 2024 4th

Recommended Posts

I love this trade

And my opinion on all the posters saying Monahan > Lindholm or etc is that it's not about who's having a better season/career in terms of personal accolades.

To win a cup you need a team and I think PA/JR/RT have shown us how important fit and chemistry is. Look how many canuck players are having career years to date.

I think Lindholm is the perfect fit for our team

Big step towards letting EP go. We will have all the centers we need , 4 first round picks, money to go get another top player, and a Stanley Cup.

Wow doubt that at all.

Only way he gets traded is if he wants 14 plus mill a year.

Think management showed QH and EP what they asked for so they will be happy.

Monahan will not have a resurgence to close to a ppg player whereas Lindholm will.

I don't think Monahan > Lindholm, but it would have cost less and afforded the Canucks an additional $3m in cap room to add this TDL.

Wow

Well that's quite a haul for Calgary.  I can see Kuzmenko going there and getting his scoring touch back.  In that case, Calgary is looking at potentially getting more assets back for him in the summer.

I'm happy with the trade overall, but Calgary definitely milked us for a lot.  Kuzmenko + 1st + Hunter felt like more then enough in value.

If we are able to manage to re-sign Lindholm our top 6 and #1PP is pretty deadly on paper.

Hopefully Petey sees this and is willing to not ask for the moon.

Hopefully Lindholm likes it here and wants to stay.

Lindholm is like Horvat goal scoring wise but is way better defensively and actually uses the body.

$10 mil a year? OUCH!

Why would you care ?

If we win Cup he can go somewhere get 15 mill. Doesn't affect us. We want the Cup. That's the goal. The better he plays the better for us..

Now time to go get Henrique or Vatrano

Henrique/Vatrano - Miller - Boeser

Petterson - Lindolm - Mikheyev

Joshua - Blueger - Garland

Hoglander - Suter - Lafferty

Feels like a video game

I was watching the ducks sharks game, ducks broadcast and they were talking about vatrano attending his 2nd asg and he Said he had a really great time last year and he became close friends with Elias Pettersson and they still keep in touch..

You never know maybe Petey has some input as a leader on this team.

They say defense wins championships and so far this team has more goals for then against in the league and we just replaced a guy who couldn't defend well with a guy who can.

So this team should be the hardest to get goals on that can score.

Management is so predictable (in a good way.)

Kuz was obvious… but the 1st plus Brzustewicz would be exactly what I’d dangle as well.  Protect the true blue chippers and dangle the found money.

Brzustewicz is a tough piece to move out and could be a huge piece for Calgary.  But you gotta pay to play and there’s a real likelihood he peaks as a good but not great 4-5 puck mover.  Still super valuable.. but again, we’re getting ahead in acquiring the best player openly being dangled.

Spot on....

We held on to a play making point getting Dman for a long time, but he couldn't play D in the NHL....

You never know, but not a foregone conclusion...

JR/PA is giving the team an opportunity to go for it....

Jarmo and the 4th are the price of getting ahead of the market.

I did not go in hot.  I provided context, stats, and information.  Alf replied back with something that was factually incorrect and tossed is some made up name for the player as his basis for not being comparable.

Don’t worry about it and don’t take it to heart.

Chalk it up to ‘evening’ posts.

Huberdeau went from 100+ points to around 50.

You're outta your friggin' mind.

Whether or not he's part of a cup winning team, he's not worth $10 mil a year long-term.

Thank God you aren't running the show.

 F Andrei Kuzmenko, D Hunter Brzustewicz, D Joni Jurmo, a first-round, conditional 4th.

- really liked kuzy and thought this was just an off year for him but wad clear Tocchett wasn't a fan, was about to say hopefully doesn't haunt us in the future but it's looking like rebuild time.

- Was pretty high on jurmo but being realistic bottom pairing if he makes it, brzustewicz looks like he'll be a nhler at some point, liked him.

Let's hope they whiff on that first!

 GO NUCKS!

But can anyone gimme a run down on lindholm?, only watch the Flames when they play the nucks and the batttle of AB?.

Cheers!

I doubt it too. This management seems smart, but are they that smart? I doubt it. I don't want them to trade him, I want them to let another team sign him so we get the 4 compensatory picks. If he signs with us for the same money he's making now or maybe a small raise, great! This Lindholm thing sounds great, I just hope this junior kid isn't going to make us regret it.

Nope they got a guy that didn't work here, two prospects that may never make the NHL, a late first pretty much second and a 4th.

That means so far one nhler that might have cost us in the playoffs as he couldn't back check.

Wait four years and see who got the better deal, but for now that's us by miles.

This was just a solid hockey trade for both sides especially if we can get Lindy to stay

We solidify our top 6 with a player that will help us during our playoff run

Flames get rid of a player that didn't want to stick around and swing the doors open for a proper rebuild Instead of hoping to squeak into the playoffs

If we can re-sign Lindholm at a decent price (because after Calgary this will seem like paradise and why wouldn't he want to stay for a discount on a team that could win the cup in the next few years), this trade becomes a HUGE win for the Canucks.

To quote one of the pundits on a random podcast, decent group though [paraphrasing], "you can throw away Jurmo who is the longest of long shots to make the NHL, the longest of scratch and win tickets. The conditional 4th round pick is on the condition that the Canucks make the Conference final. If you make the conference final with this roster you could give a shit about the conditional 4th round pick so you throw that away. So you are left with Kuzmenko, Brzustewicz and a what will most likely be a very late 1st round pick. That is it.

HB is a maybe, to be seen and you cannot discount the cap they gained this year and eliminated next year for a player that may have been a PP specialist in the playoffs ... "

You get the drift. I wish Kuzy the best in Calgary and hopes he lights it up, just not against the Canucks. However, that "probably" won't happen as who is his Petey / Miller in Calgary.

Still a very likeable guy and had he managed to repeat anywhere close to last year AND played to Tocchet's staples he would still be a Canuck.
