watching tocc's pregame availability currently. every interview i see with this guy, man, it just gets clearer and clearer that he gets it.

he sees things coming and proactively addresses them in such subtle ways. the way he establishes the bar of expectation for his team without phrasing it as a challenge to them, he invests so much confidence in them.

when he's asked if this is a trap game, he says he'd be more worried if they hadn't had the bad second period against Toronto. "humble pie" he says. that period got their radar up, he says.

what he's accomplished is proactively holding them accountable, taking away the excuse before they can use it, but in a super subtle way that makes the guys believe in themselves.

rick tocchet is a low key coaching genius.

he's got the strategy down, he's got the emotional intelligence connection with the players down, and he's got the progressive, inclusive, collaborative approach to the workplace down.

Well said Tas. Tocchet in a unique way essentially coaches while he is talking with the media. He communicates a vision for the team to follow. His style seems to be rather simple, honest and based upon his experience as a player. He is a coach worthy of the title and a breath of fresh air. If we as fans notice and appreciate the difference in the style Tocchet brings to coaching it must be easy for the players to buy into his message. Just proves teamwork works.

Entwhistle doesn’t sound like a hockey name. It belongs in the rock and roll hall of fame, as in John Entwhistle the bass player from the Who.

I see your point however the spellings are different.
“Thunder Fingers ” or “The Ox”

spelt his name Entwistle.

Max Domi called Tocchet the best coach in the world right now, didn't he?

I know Max Domi isn't no star but must mean something for an opposing player to give such blunt positive feedback about the others team coach.

You have to think NHL players around the league are talking.... which is great for us going in free agency

Who was the panel jackass that just called the panthers the best team in the NHL?

the guy whose career highlight was cashing in by keeping his stick on the ice for the twins to deflect passes off of into the back of the net.

Would be great to see lotto line split up and Petey able to handle his own friggin line. We have 3 weaker teams its time to get back on the bike Petey. drop the training wheels.

What a stupid comment.

Pettersson is not the problem.  He continued to put up points when he centered his own line... not as many as hoped for, but the problem was his wingers, not Pettersson.

If Kuzmenko, Mikheyev, or Lafferty or any of the other wingers who played with Pettersson could perform at a level they did in the first 20 games, there would be no issue.

The reason Pettersson had to be put with Miller and Boeser is JT/BB are the only other guys who are making plays and scoring out of the top 6.  The other guys on the line with Miller and Boeser were also not consistently scoring or making plays when they were with JT/BB....  not Giuseppe, not Hoglander, not Suter.

Tocchet has decided he doesn't have the patience to wait for Kuzzy/Mikheyev/Lafferty to get out of their slumps or for Hoglander/Suter/Giuseppe to gel with JT/BB.

So we have the Lotto line.

This is not a permanent solution, the team needs the two top lines going... which is why PA is looking for a winger for Pettersson.  He is not looking for a replacement for Pettersson, cause he understands Petey is not the problem.

So get off your bullsh*t "I hate 'falling down Petey' cr*p."

Next thing we'll be hearing how Boeser isn't scoring anymore and how slow he is and how he needs to be traded. 🙄
