Highlights of Villa's nice scalp weren't uploaded until late.  Looking forward to the match on Sat.

Pretty impressive work by the 'Keepers in that one. Probably would have saved the goal too, if that City defender hadn't put a foot in.....

BIG win for Everton.  With their 10 point deduction (they are appealing), they are now out of the relegation spaces in 17th, one point up on Luton Town.  If they had no points deductions, they would be in 10th.  One point up on Chelsea and Brentford.

Spurs drop some more points with their loss to the Hammers.

Back to Everton.  They have secured 20 points from 15 games.  That would put them on pace for just over 50 points.  With the 10 point deduction, they would have 40 points.

Luton Town, who is the top team in the relegation spaces, is on pace for about 23 points.  Forest, who is in 16th, is on pace for 33 points.  Bournemouth, in 15th, is on pace for just over 40.

If Everton maintains similar play the rest of the way, they should easily avoid relegation.

We all know that what should happen (on paper) and what actually happens doesn't always line up.  But, I think Everton will be in the Prem next year, closing out Goodison Park with Premier League football instead of Championship a slog fest.

Villa really is playing well.  Means the top of the table is

Liverpool  37 pts

Arsenal 36 pts.

Villa 35 pts.

City should win tomorrow and will be 4th.

I thought if Arsenal played against most teams today they would have won.  Credit to AV (especially Martinez) for a well played game.

It appears it's going to be a season long jockeying battle for first place among several teams.  Should be entertaining.

Final matchday for the Champions League group stage started today.  Arsenal go through as group winner.  Man U lose today against Bayern and finish bottom of their group, out of Europe.

Tomorrow we learn the fate of Newcastle as Man City have already gone through as group winner.

Luton captain Tom Lockyer collapses, match vs. Bournemouth suspended

BOURNEMOUTH, England — Luton captain Tom Lockyer collapsed on the field for the second time this year, prompting the abandonment of their English Premier League game at Bournemouth on Saturday.

Luton reported around an hour after the incident that Lockyer was “responsive” and was taken to a hospital.

Fans stayed behind at Vitality Stadium after the match was called off and were heard chanting the name of Lockyer, a Wales international defender who dropped to the ground untouched in the 59th minute.

Players from both sides immediately called for help and Luton manager Rob Edwards entered the field, looking distressed.

The 29-year-old Lockyer was carried away on a stretcher. The score was 1-1 at the time and referee Simon Hooper made the decision to abandon the game, with the clock having stopped in the 65th.

“We don’t know the full extent of what happened and what the next steps are at this stage,” Luton said, "but we thank Bournemouth and the medical staff on both sides for their immediate response, which was absolutely amazing.

“We are sorry to all supporters present that players from both sides were in no state of mind to continue with the game after seeing their much-loved teammate and friend taken off like that, and staff could not carry on with managing the game in such circumstances having had to deal with the situation.”

Lockyer also collapsed during the second-tier Championship playoff final at Wembley Stadium in May. He was quickly responsive on that occasion and was taken to the hospital for tests.

There was a very different kind of drama at Etihad Stadium, where Manchester City threw away a two-goal lead and drew with Crystal Palace 2-2 and dropped two more points in its increasingly unconvincing title defense.

The equalizer came in the fifth minute of stoppage time via a penalty from Michael Olise as City drew a third straight home game. The champions have won just one of their last six league games.

Newcastle won at home 3-0 against Fulham, for which Mexico striker Raul Jimenez was sent off for a dangerous challenge in the 22nd minute when the score was 0-0.

Chelsea beat Sheffield United 2-0 while Burnley hosted Everton in the late game.

@UnkNuk

I know I am gonna jinx the Villans but remember what I stated at the start of the season ?

Well beyond my dreams.

Equal second on points.

Only goal difference seperating us from the Reds.

With his mate Monchi as the sporting director and owners willing to spend in the January transfer window, starting to believe that Emery can take us to the promised land of Champions league at least.

Perhaps we all should have paid more attention to Aston Villa at the start of the season:

"Aston Villa have FIRMED from 250/1 to 16/1 to win the Premier League since the beginning of the season... after beating both Man City and Arsenal, can Unai Emery's side make history?"

Appears to be a frustrating match for Villa supporters.  Blown chance to go top of the table with the other 2 teams at the top, Arsenal v Liverpool, playing each other tomorrow.

Dropped points vs relegation bound Sheffield United.
