It's why we threw in so many names

Conroy is enough of a rube that the ol' "be a gm mode" technique of adding trinkets to balance the scales actually worked.

Yeah, the smart GMs get work done before the last minute and more are realizing that these days.

it's much easier for the teams at the top of the table to pull the trigger early than teams in the 5-10 spots in each conference because those lower positioned teams need to determine if they actually have a chance or if trying to add is a waste of resources. makes sense for them to wait closer to the deadline, whereas teams that have no real risk of falling out of the playoff picture have a much simpler task.

They picked up Perry already. They're done.

This stretch might actually prove deadly for Edmonton. They may just stand pat thinking they’re okay… I don’t think their defence or goaltending can sustain them in the post season though personally.

When resiliency hits them in the playoffs, they'll start whining for powerplays and then taking stupid retaliation penalties. Then they lose.

This is interesting, because it could further compound the issue.  Top teams load up early and get stronger, potentially taking more points from other teams.   Teams closer to the bubble don't keep and then becomes sellers, affecting the market.  Fun to be on the right side of it either way!

Name salad really worked for them and seeing Monahan go for a 1st and a 3rd makes the Lindholm deal look better for us.  And as @Bob Long said; lot's of names to flip the script and timing is everything.

Second thoughts, did we just scoop Lindholm from WPG?
