Hairy Kneel
Just watched the game after work!! Man Carolina plays a ugly trap something ugly style of game. Definitely a playoff style game we'll be facing. Bit our guys were ready. Zadorov set the tone with that hit on hair ball guy. Demko was steady eddie. Our systems was the key. Everyone was working hard. Mik played better. Finally. In tough games like this I wished we had a better answer on the 4th line than Aman he's a bit of a wus, sorry, had to be said.

Popular Post DelPiLeo
The spotlight was on Lindholm, but the 3rd line was playing pretty good in this game too. Garland himself created many scoring chances and if the things went their way a little bit, could easily have a couple of goals tonight. 4 1 1

Popular Post JamesB
Great night for the first night of real hockey in a while. 1. Canucks beat a very good and very hot Carolina team in Carolina with Lindholm getting two goals. 2. Vegas beat Edmonton to keep the Oilers short of the consecutive win record. (Hooray) 3. I was also pleased to see Kuzy score in his first game with Calgary in a big win over Boston. Other comments about tonight's game. 4. Great to see Lindholm score two PP goals and out there late in the game protecting a one goal lead. He led all forwards in ice-time with 21 minutes. Nothing like getting thrown into the deep end right away. Makes JR and PA look good. Also credit to the coaching staff for taking advantage of the aggressive Carolina PK to go for down-low deflections. 5. The Canucks started very strong, dominating the first period except for an unfortunate short-handed goal. And they came back strong without missing a beat after giving up that goal. However, Carolina dominated the third period in a big way. The all-strength Corsi was 30-4 for Carolina in the third. However, the high danger Corsi was only 2-1 and the expected goals numbers were only 0.77 to 0.65, despite Carolina lifting the goalie for over 2 minutes at the end of the game. So Carolina was playing true to form shooting whenever they could. The Canucks were also playing true form --giving up very little when protecting a lead and going for quality shots instead of volume. And of course the Canucks got the only actual goal in the third. It was a nice play by Myers and Miller, but it was also quite lucky. 6. The "third" line was very good again and was unlucky not to score. They had some great chances, especially in the first period. 7. The Miller line was excellent (and I loved Boeser's game), but Petey's line was not great at 5-on-5. Not bad, but it looked like they were not entirely in sync at this stage. 8. As for the D, Myers was surprisingly good. He had an excellent game. And of course Hughes was excellent as always. Zadorov adds an intimidation factor that is great to see, but he seems to make a lot of imprecise passes and other plays that are slightly off. He is better than Gudbranson, but he reminds me a bit of Gudbranson. But he is even bigger and tougher than Guddy, and Guddy made more mistakes. So I am happy to have Z. on the team, but I am glad that the coaches are not overplaying him. 9. Demmer did not have a lot to do early but he came up with some big saves late. A great evening overall. Hard not to be optimistic about the Canucks right now. 4 1 4 2

Popular Post Strawbone
I assure you all, I am a human despite failing the new forum humanity test 4 times before getting in. Carolina is very aggressive defensively, and are really hard to play against. The Canucks have more high-end skill and I think that made the difference tonight, but if you don't put in a 110% effort vs the Canes, you are going to get smothered. That was a great win! 3 3 1

Pure961089
I think the Canucks are the Cup favorites. When Petey and Lindholm find chemistry and they will because they're too smart, but when they do the Canucks will have no weaknesses. Jim Rutherford and his brass really are geniuses. They know how to build cup winners. 2

Last year we had no system to fall back on if we weren't scoring. We were running around like chickens because of it. Now we are a much deadlier team and poised to do something never done before in the history of the franchise. Didn't watch the whole game. What did Aman do? Anyone who knows the game should realize that he’s been good for the majority of the season. Wish we could have had Tocchet and his cadre of assistants a few years earlier. They’ve really tamed the chaos in the big guy. 1 1
Popular Post PistolPete13
4 hours ago, Barn Burner said: There was someone in the GDT tonight saying we should trade Miller for Monahan. Lol. Not sure if they were kidding, stoned, or trolling! And there's still some who would still trade him and Boeser for assets! What a friggin' joke! All those years of following the Canucks through rough times, there were plenty of negative posts about the team. Most of those posts were sensible measured takes, but there were some that went overboard with the negativity. I often wondered if those same people would be throwing negativity and shade at the team if they were one of the best teams in the league. Well here we are, and we have our answer, Some people just gotta bitch no matter what. It’s brutal how some people gotta have a whipping boy or two to complain about. Lighten up folks. Enjoy the ride. 1 1
