He’s the type of guy you hate on the other team but would love on your team. Yeah he’s a rat/pesky whatever but he puts up the points to back it up.

Absolutely not. The way he punched the Sedins multiple times and submarined Salo in the SCF is unforgivable

OMG....

We must redeem the 2011 team and win against the RAT in the SCF. Would be poetic justice to see him cry once more but as Captain of that POS franchise.

LOL

Why are we talking about Brad Marchand in 2024, lol.  Who cares.  2011 was 13 years ago.

With respect to Marchand and the Boston Bruins, I don’t see how they are relevant to us unless we play them again in the finals (edit - actually, I just realized that we are playing them next game and so perhaps this explains the relevancy of your post and thread).

I wouldn't go that far, but he was a superstar in his heydey. Would've easily had three or so 100+ point seasons if it weren't for shortened seasons. Needs more than the 909 points he has to get into the HHOF though. He might get to a respectable enough total by the end though to warrant consideration.

So just looking it up there are 299 players in the Hall of Fame, Marchand currently sits 121st all time in NHL scoring, add in Gold Medals, World Juniors, World Championships etc. he is a Hall of Fame lock as of now.

Obviously, there are a lot of defensemen and goaltenders in the HHOF, so that's not a fair comparison and the numbers would be different when considering only forwards. What's more, there are many players from before the 50s in the HHOF, when they regularly played 50-60 games a season, meaning players scored fewer points. Many HHOFers from the 20s and 30s played only a few hundred games, so again, not a fair comparison, given how different the game and league was back then.

If he's 178 places ahead of players in the HoF on points alone, he is clearly a lock once you add international play. He is pretty underrated as a player especially around these parts.
