Ya it’s been a good trip considering our top guys haven’t really had a great trip. Speaks more to the depth we have this year. I have been more frustrated with the lack of pushback from our top players but I guess a whole season can’t be a Picasso.

Lindholm get 2, Hronek gets 2, and Petey get 4. Still 3 left to keep Joshua? Completely agree with Myers. But I'd find a way to shed Mikheyev's contract before Garland's. 1 1

Not nearly enough attention or respect given to our women. Amazing come back from 3 games down. Those who poo poo the women's game are idiots. They may not have the raw physical frames, strength, speed etc. but if you love hockey. Love watching skilled plays and passion on the ice, and also root for those who put on the Canada jersey and play for their country, then I don't understand how you can't get jacked for this. I'm sorry I missed it. Bad day to schedule this game in too. Go Canada Go! 3 3

He hasn't scored in almsot half a season (20 games ago) and is killing Petey's Line. Time to call him out - he's had enough time to get his shit together for almost $5,000,000.00 Million and just 10 Goals. Imo, one of the few mistakes Toch has made is not giving Mik games off to rest. Should never play in back to back, and I'd have rested him on the last game before any 3 day break, to give him the extra recovery time. He looked ok to begin the year, but wears down as the season goes on. Not a surprise, his surgery takes about a year to fully recuperate from.

Most of our fans are pretty knowledgeable. Differences of opinion are welcomed and make this forum worthwhile. A few expect instant gratification 24/7 and this is what drives me crazy. A new player scores two goals in game one but doesn’t score in next two games, and there are serious suggestions that we lost the trade. Ovee time, the right linemates will be found fo Lindholm and chemistry develops, I think that we’re going to be pretty happy. I’m confident in our management for the first time in many years. The improvement in the team has been amazing to watch. The future looks bright. On point 1, I think another outgoing cap to have an impact winger trade will be made ... well "think" may not be the right word, "hope" is probably better. With two solid scoring lines marked as 1A & 1B with the rest of the team as is, I would be happy, content and even hopeful. On point 2, absolutely. While we love to bash Benning, he did make some good deals but taken as a totality the bad deals wiped out any goodwill or steps taken forward. Glad PA / JR are in charge now. Popular Post JamesB
Nice to get the win. With 5 pts on the road trip so far the Canucks will be at least 50% and have a good shot at a really good road trip as they will be favored against Chicago. Things that stood out for me: 1. Another sleepy start. This time it was Cole who looked surprised and slow on the first goal. He did not take the shooter or get in position to deflect the pass. Not as bad as Myers' gaffe yesterday but not good. 2. But the Canucks came back and played pretty well in a game where most players were tired. The game was very even on the scoreboard and close to even in the underlying stats (with a slight edge for Washington). The Canucks benefited from a lucky break with a terrible giveaway by Washington late in OT that led to Miller's game-winning goal. Still a good play by Miller --good anticipation and a great shot. 3. Once again, the third line looked like the best line by the eye test and by the stats. In fairness, they usually play against the other teams' bottom 6 and third pairing, so they have weaker opponent quality, but they still played well. Nice to see Garland finally get another goal. 4. Interesting to see how Friedman did. He had protected minutes -- only 11 minutes, no PK time, and not much time against Washington's top players. But he did pretty well. Hughes played a lot with over 29 minutes--not surprising with Z. out, with OT, and with a close game. The Canucks will need to look for opportunities to rest him as much as possible. 5. I have generally been fairly positive about Mikheyev despite his lack of scoring but I think he is becoming a concern. He always plays responsible defence but today he was caught from behind by Wilson on what could have been a clean break and he just isn't generating much offensively. Good chance his knee is still not 100%. Hope we see an uptick in his game by the time the playoffs start. 6. Yesterday I was a bit critical of Hoggy. He scored a goal against Detroit but poor plays (bad penalty and bad defence) probably cost the team two goals in Detroit. Today he was better with a really nice goal and no obvious defensive mistakes that I saw. He has skill, speed, and energy. He just need to combine that with good defensive habits. Too bad we can't combine the positive aspects of Hoggy and Mik in one player. 7. Demmer was very good. The biggest difference between today and yesterday was probably goaltending. As the old adage goes, the team with the better goalie usually wins and that happened both yesterday and today. Worth remembering that the Canucks are still in first place in the NHL overall standings with this final tough road trip almost behind them. Yet we still find ways to get a point or two Tough to judge the afternoon (morning) games. Yes a little sleepy since the all-star break. Reminds me of the Markstrom days, when a player could just walk into our zone and pass the puck into the net. Seemed like that was the norm for a year of so he was between the pipes. First shot of the game? Goal against.
