Disciplinary Action

Thought it would end up being 5 but this should have been a statement by the league. Instead it's a slap on the wrist because of who he plays for. Clean record or not, there was intent... Wonder what it would have been if he was a Canuck.

It Wasn't a hockey play

It happened after the Whistle and stoppage of play which makes the incident worse

It was a stupid nothing play that he wasn't even  remotely justified sticking up for someone to do that

Should have been closer to 10 but Shannahan doing that job before and Toronto get the discount

Not surprised with 5.  Didn't think it'd hit 10.  Thought MAYBE 6 or 7... but Reilly is a bigger name and plays for the Leafs, so 5 sounds about right.

It's the NHL though. Wouldn't surprise me if it was one game or ten. It's a joke really. It's why I'm content at five.

Bullshit.  Toronto is the most suspended team in the NHL.

It should be more, but because Leafs I think it's 5.

If this sends them on a losing streak it could be fun to watch tho, only because no one was hurt. Very dumb thing to do.

Leafs pretty much have to pay anything now for Tanev too, to save their season.

Damn!  Nailed it on the first page.

Cheers!

Just because they are the most suspended doesn't mean they don't get preferential treatment. Perhaps it just means they pull too much BS out there and get caught enough to be suspended more than the rest.

In this case, they deserve more.  5 games here is not enough for something so blatantly a deliberate act well after the play is over.

Where are those stats from?  I'm curious myself...

At least within the Parros era.

You can make that exact same argument against Toronto by saying they are overexposed in the media and the NHL has no choice but to make a show of force everytime they do something.

A majority of crosschecking suspensions are committed after the whistle.

What does that BS have to do with this  situation?

George Parros and the NHL DoPS doesn't do Toronto any favours by suspending the players all the time.

The Leafs don't get away with much.  That's just your anti-Toronto bias kicking in.  The only perk they get is nice start times.

Does this punishment mean a star player can be now targeted with an unsuspecting cross check to the head well after he scores and the perpetrator only gets five?
