I don't think I have ever seen a team receive three 5 on 3's in one game, absolutely insane. Or awarded a goal that wasn't scored. That one was cute, wasn't it. Good try. 1

Dom
Alright, I've calmed down a bit.... let's be real for a second here. Two games in a row where we absolutely dominated 5 on 5 IMO. Penalty trouble, whether you agree with the calls or not, has to be tightened up... like Tocchet said, that is 4 or 5 games now where they have been undisciplined. Huge game tomorrow night, put this in the past and come out flying tomorrow.... win vs the Avs and everyone forgets this even happened. We'll see what we are really made of. Nucker67
Not going to blame the refs or the schedule maker or Bettman or the central time zone. It's up to the team to score goals and prevent goals, any way they have to. Canucks were not good for most of the game today, hopefully they figure it out in the next 24 hours. Tough matchup in the mile high city tomorrow. 1

Not very good officiating and even worse goaltending. It's not often a goalie will play every game in the playoffs but we're going to have to because Dasmith is at the minor league level. A house league goalie from a men's league would do as well.
BC_Hawk
4 minutes ago, JamesB said: Crazy Game. And very disappointing. Here are the keys as I see it. 1. Penalties. Three 2-man advantage situations for Minny and 4 PP goals. Obviously the Canucks need more discipline. You think that a high-sticking penalty (Garland, Blueger) and a puck-over-glass penalty (Miller) is usually bad luck, but it is important to focus. I think the worst penalty was actually Zadorov for holding. It was an obvious and unnecessary penalty that started the fatal penalty parade that cost us the game. 2. Goaltending. DeSmith gave up 8 goals on 25 shots. That is an ugly stat line. A couple of the goals were bad luck (like the deflection off Cole) and none of the goals looked like "bad" goals. But the expected goals number was 3.7 so the "excess goals scored against" was 4.3, which is about as big as you ever see. DeSmith just did not look in control and was often late getting to his spot. 3. Miller line. The Miller line was great. Not only did Miller get a hat trick, but Suter and Boeser were also very good. The combined for 9 points and each guy was +2. They were good in all the underlying metrics. It is a shame to waste a performance like that. 4. Luck. The Canucks have had better than average luck all season, but not today. I am not saying that luck was the difference, but Minny was pretty lucky on a couple of their goals (not even counting the two empty net goals). 5. Mikheyev. Speaking of luck, when is Mik going to get on the scoreboard again. He had several good chances today with nothing to show for it -- no goals, no assists. He actually played well and was second on the team in expected goal percentage. But the puck just won't go in for him. Part of it is bad luck, but part of it must be (lack of) confidence. 6. Structure. The tight defensive game the Canucks have been playing kind of fell apart in the third period. It is nice to have D-men who can support the offence, but maybe everyone (except Hughes) should go back to defence first. All 6 D's got on the scoresheet (goals or assists) which is rare, but they were all getting trapped too often. Of course, it is more likely when you are "chasing the game" as the Canucks were in the third but I think the Canucks need to reset. 7. 4th line. Lafferty, Aman, and PDG have not done much for a while now. I want to see Bains get a shot. Hope we can put this one in the rear view mirror. Pretty simple shake up for a few games in my opinion; Bains-Miller-Boeser Suter-Blueger-Garland Mik-Aman-PDG Lafferty to press box. Suter and Mik can flipperoo if no chemistry. Once Bains has had chance…let’s see Podz. I actually think Podz-Blueger-Garland would be a great line to try.

King Heffy
13 minutes ago, Dumb Nuck said: I think each team should get to pick one ref each year that can not ref their games, if too many teams pick the same ref he doesn’t work much. The list needs to be larger than one. I'd go with a minimum of three. Sadly, the league won't force these dirtbags to start acting like professionals voluntarily. They'll likely be held criminally liable for negligence when a career ending injury happens as a result of a ref concentrating on match fixing instead of enforcing the rules. 1
