Perfect scenario: Podz-Petterson-Hogs Bains-Miller-Boeser Blueger-Lindholm-Garland Mik-Suter-Lafferty Not saying Bains or Podz slide into those roles, but one could dream. And the Avs goalie was very good. The Canucks could not stay on a shooting percentage heater forever. I don't have much to add to the previous comments, but here are a few points. 1. Nice to see Bains get his first NHL game, playing with Garland and Blueger. The Canucks are still missing Joshua but Bains was pretty good and did not look out of place. Hope he stays in the lineup for a while. 2. The Miller line was excellent again -- scoring the only goal and playing a tilted ice when they were out there (Corsi was 10-2 when they were on the ice). 3. Good teams with good coaches have adapted to the Canucks dump and chase approach at 5-on-5 and to the PP movement. The Canucks will need to re-adapt. 4. It sort of feels like Mikeyev, PDG, and Aman will never score again. (Hope they prove me wrong next game.) 5. It was another close game that the Canucks could have won with an extra bounce or two (or with less stellar goaltending by Georgiev. But after getting a lot of bounces earlier in the season it is not a shock to see some "regression". 6. A lot of comments are pretty negative about Petey. I think he has the kind of skillset that matches up well against weaker teams -- a finesse game. His game does not match up so well against good teams, especially when they play a physical game against him. That is very different from Miller who matches up well against good teams and cannot be pushed around physically. I don't think there is an easy "fix". Petey is still a very good player. But I am in the camp that thinks that even Nylander money (11.5 cap hit on a long term deal) might be too much. 7. The Canucks can rest for a day and come back strong against Seattle. Petey, specifically, wants to get paid McKinnon-tier money but plays like a scared Nylander against top teams. I say ship him out if the right deal comes along. Kept on saying he want to play for a winner while simultaneously not being the big game game breaker that would justify such statement. Puts up the multi-point games on the average to weaker teams, but when the going gets tough, he is no where to be found. Doesn't make sense that he was sat when those three plugs were given ice time. Team needs a couple of heftier and nastier players to fill out the roster. One positive seeing Bain play was how he was get shots or passed to the net quickly.
