tomlinson is adequate but needs to reign in the canned enthusiasm. ray is great. 

nobody can replace cheech and that chemistry he had with shorty, but they've found the best replacements they possibly could.

Eventually, I hope Bieksa joins, but I'm ready to listen no matter who the analysts are at this point. It'll be quite different without the John-John banter, but change can be good.

Am I safe to assume you're talking about his recent days in Seattle? 

 

Tomlinson was on 650 recently talking about how he would talk a bit differently there being in a newer market. Over-explaining things, dumbing it down a bit. I wonder if that's a part of that 'canned hype' you're referring to? I don't remember him enough from his TSN1040 days to know if he's always been that way though so

I'll miss Cheech. Ray has a lot of hockey knowledge but my only complaint with him is he gets talking too fast at times....he can get on a roll and Cheech was a bit more even keeled.

 

We'll see.

But Ray is the best I could have hoped for as a replacement, so I'm glad to see that confirmed.

I guess with Ray saying he'll only get 20 games, that leaves, what maybe 50 games for Tomlinson and the rest on CBC HNIC?

I didn’t think I’d like anyone other than Cheech, but Tomlinson has been great so far. Good insights and observations. Plus some funny lines. It helps that we’re used to his voice from radio

 

I miss Cheech’s stories though
