hockeyville88
The term is terrific. Glad it was under 12 million. This makes it the largest contract in Canucks history and one of the largest in the NHL. I hope he is up for the task and knows he has to perform at both ends of the ice on a consistent basis
Mando27
Finally this is dealt with, hopefully he is no longer distracted.
Smashian Kassian
11.6 is terrific for the team. 8 years is terrific for the team. This will look very good in the longrun. Glad this is finally done & Petey is here. What great news to wake up too 1 1

The way they were carrying on at the All star break was nothing less then hilarious. Exactly. On ice, they're good and there's nothing to worry about. Two guys at different places in their lives....sure, they likely don't have a lot in common or hang out after practice together. But none of that matters. It's on ice that matters and they're both highly skilled fierce competitors and likely have a mutual respect for one another based on that. They're striving for a common goal and we need both of them to get us there. 1

Plus it'll probably throw off his game as his balance and everything will be affected. His balance ???? Coconuts
Tad lower than I thought it'd be, figured he'd get 12M or a little more, but pretty close Little surprised he opted for term, but it puts where he'll be playing to bed Likely ends up a career Canuck, one who holds some all-time offensive records for Canuck forwards

Or is he following up a dog shit season with another dog shit season where he got traded, then continued to do nothing at all. Lindy has Loui E written all over him. He should have taken the 9 mill offer from Calgary and run because at this point, 6 mill is too much. The guy stinks and I hope we let him walk 1

Smashian Kassian
Someone would've given him 12.5M+ easily. And at 8 years we are getting him from age 25-33, so the rest of his prime. Fantastic. This contract is going to age so well

Coconuts
1 hour ago, Jeremy Hronek said: $11.6 million is a hometown discount? Seems like he got paid on par with market value (not a bad thing, but I'm not seeing much of a discount here). Like I said - I'm happy that we've got a good young Center that is locked up for the next 8 years. Pettersson is currently the 4th best player on the team, and is bordering on being a franchise level star. He has that potential - we saw it during the first 10 games of the seasons, and periodic flashes after that. Having said that, he's going to need to step up if he wants to live up to this new contract. Hopefully, with the contract distraction in the rear view mirror now, we can see the Elias Pettersson that we saw during the 2nd half of the 2021/2022 season.....or the Pettersson that we saw during the first 10 games of this season. If Pettersson took a discount it's likely by a few hundred thousand, which amounts to nothing really Maybe that extra 400k makes the difference for a bottom six guy, but he simply got close to market value imo Most stars don't take significant discounts, or discounts at all Edited March 2 by Coconuts

BPA
Nice. Under $12M so he took a slight discount. At $11.6M cap hit, I’m expecting 110-120pts per year. Now let’s make a run for the cup!!!
