If they think Lindholm, or any of our current players, can help us win and for the right price then they will sign him. If not then they will either trade the player of let him go as a free agent. Knowing the Canucks had a backup plan and were prepared to move on if necessary is probably a big reason why Petterson was willing to sign now instead of holding out longer. If that is the only value we get from the Lindholm trade (and it is waay too early to say that for sure), it will prove to be worth it in my opinion.
