This surprised me when I saw the headline but it makes sense after reading the article.

CDC drops 5-day isolation guidance for Covid-19, moving away from key strategy to quell infections

The agency says it’s updating its recommendations for Covid-19 to bring them in line with its advice for other kinds of respiratory infections, including influenza and RSV. Offering a single set of unified guidance will make people more likely to follow it, agency experts said in a news briefing on Friday.

Namely, the CDC now says people who have Covid-19 should stay home until they’ve been fever-free without medication for at least 24 hours or their symptoms have been improving for 24 hours.

CDC Director Dr. Mandy Cohen said the agency is changing its guidance because most of the US population has some immunity against Covid and, as a result, the country is no longer seeing large waves of infections, hospitalizations and deaths from the coronavirus. Instead, these have turned into smaller, more predictable bumps in transmission in the summer and winter as the nation reaches a kind of steady state with the virus.

And importantly, the agency says, despite these wavelets of illness, severe outcomes like hospitalizations and deaths have been dropping since 2020 and 2021.

How did we get to this point where people would discard their acquired knowledge on vaccines when it comes to COVID? The amount of misinformation on vaccines have been so bad. I get why some people are SKEPTICAL about the vaccines, but there's no excuse why they don't "trust" scientific sources, but will openly trust the underground, unverifiable ones. It's confirmation bias at its peak.

I've had six COVID shots. No covid thankfully. Get your COVID shots the way you'd get your regular vaccines, folks. In the past, we ALL used to get measles/chickenpox shots and we wouldn't even question it BECAUSE we knew the outcome was VERY bad.

How did we get to this moment where we can lie to ourselves that a few million deaths of COVID worldwide is no big deal. Ridiculous.

It's because legions of tinfoil hatters and tinfoil hatter adjacent people got ahold of the narrative and ran with it.  These people's brains are wired to run contrary to whatever government and authority says.  Authority figure says up, they think nope, let's go down.  This has become a major part of the anti-vaxx position.  There is also the line of people who go down the hippy dippy non-GMO, medicine is poison line as well.

yep there's a strange alignment there for sure.

We're in the golden age of bullshit, and it will only cease when enough people die from something preventable.

Sad news for Florida folk;

https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/world/florida-is-swamped-by-disease-outbreaks-as-quackery-replaces-science/ar-BB1jfRC1?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531&cvid=cbf1329ebaec471b875de93055fb631c&ei=48

"

Shortly before Joseph Ladapo was sworn in as Florida’s surgeon general in 2022, the New Yorker ran a short column welcoming the vaccine-skeptic doctor to his new role, and highlighting his advocacy for the use of leeches in public health.

It was satire of course, a teasing of the Harvard-educated physician for his unorthodox medical views, which include a steadfast belief that life-saving Covid shots are the work of the devil, and that opening a window is the preferred treatment for the inhalation of toxic fumes from gas stoves.

But now, with an entirely preventable outbreak of measles spreading across Florida, medical experts are questioning if quackery really has become official health policy in the nation’s third most-populous state.

As the highly contagious disease raged in a Broward county elementary school, Ladapo, a politically appointed acolyte of Florida’s far-right governor Ron DeSantis, wrote to parents telling them it was perfectly fine for parents to continue to send in their unvaccinated children.

“The surgeon general is Ron DeSantis’s lapdog, and says whatever DeSantis wants him to say,” said Dr Robert Speth, a professor of pharmaceutical sciences at south Florida’s Nova Southeastern University with more than four decades of research experience.

It's not his work, it's a list of peer reviewed studies, did you even look at it? What's the problem, it wasn't on TV?? Safe and effective, right?

He compiled the list.  He's a discredited quack.  Yes, I looked at it though not deeply.  I am already aware of the low number of complications arising from Covid vaccinations.

WTF does tv have to do with anything?

Yes, safe and effective when compared to any alternative.

Isn't it a little too late in the game for this kind of play?

EDIT & BTW - Do you question all vaccines or just those for Covid?

The Misleading Headlines Behind the New COVID Vaccine Safety Study

The study just confirms what we already knew

https://www.medpagetoday.com/opinion/second-opinions/108939

Don't Let the Headlines Halt Prevention Efforts

The bottom line is that no medication or vaccine is 100% effective or 100% safe, and everything has risks and benefits. But any risks from medications and vaccines need to be balanced against the risks of the disease you are trying to prevent.

For example, the risk of myocarditis/pericarditis from COVID-19 is six to 11 times higheropens in a new tab or window and is associated with a more severe clinical presentationopens in a new tab or window than the risk from the COVID-19 vaccine.

COVID-19 has killed over a million people in the U.S. and has led to permanent disability in many others.

The vaccines are very safe overall, and the benefit of the vaccine still definitely outweighs the risks. Fear mongering headlines serve only to harm, not help, public health.

None of these are actually saying it was from the vaccine itself. They're just saying things happened after getting vaccinated.

But let's assume for a second that these cases were in fact from the vaccine. How many people in total got vaccinated? A few cases where something happened vs literally millions of cases where nothing happened.... think about that. There's a chance you can get infected from a piece of dust as well. It's happened. Is it worth being paranoid about?

But it's clear that you're out to prove that vaccines are bad so you're not going to listen to me or anyone else here. You're here to fearmonger about the fraction of a percent chance that something could go wrong. Simple put, you're not here to have a balanced outlook on things.
