COVID-19 testing still important for unvaccinated, elderly: provincial health officer

So important that the new guidance was dropped.  We're still going to pretend the unvaccinated are getting more sick than the vaccinated?  Is that why they removed the hospital statistics of vaccinated vs unvaccinated?

Some of these officials should find new jobs. 24 hours after you're good to go again according to the FDA.

It's the equivalent of Japanese soldiers in the south pacific still thinking WW2 is still going on.

Well they say there is a reason for everything and all you have to do is look for it...

CDC drops 5-day isolation guidance for Covid-19, moving away from key strategy to quell infections

The agency says it’s updating its recommendations for Covid-19 to bring them in line with its advice for other kinds of respiratory infections, including influenza and RSV. Offering a single set of unified guidance will make people more likely to follow it, agency experts said in a news briefing on Friday.

Namely, the CDC now says people who have Covid-19 should stay home until they’ve been fever-free without medication for at least 24 hours or their symptoms have been improving for 24 hours.

CDC Director Dr. Mandy Cohen said the agency is changing its guidance because most of the US population has some immunity against Covid and, as a result, the country is no longer seeing large waves of infections, hospitalizations and deaths from the coronavirus. Instead, these have turned into smaller, more predictable bumps in transmission in the summer and winter as the nation reaches a kind of steady state with the virus.

And importantly, the agency says, despite these wavelets of illness, severe outcomes like hospitalizations and deaths have been dropping since 2020 and 2021.

An article in The Conversation about the virus, the vaccine, and the cardiovascular risks of both:

https://theconversation.com/cardiovascular-risks-and-covid-19-new-research-confirms-the-benefits-of-vaccination-226130

Excerpt 1:

Quote

It is not surprising that as debate over COVID-19 and vaccines flared that cardiovascular disease was a central issue. Those opposed to vaccination often make claims of cardiovascular risks that exceed any benefits. But when data on COVID-19, vaccines and cardiovascular health are reviewed, the conclusions are clear: vaccines are safe and effective at reducing the cardiovascular complications that are a hallmark of COVID-19.

Excerpt 2:

Quote

A 2022 study of 231,037 people found two doses of COVID-19 vaccines reduced the risk of stroke and heart attack up to four months after a breakthrough infection.

A subsequent study of 1.9 million people found that while two doses of the mRNA vaccines or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine protected against major cardiovascular events following COVID-19, even a single dose of the mRNA vaccines offered some benefit in reducing the risk of cardiovascular complications.

Health-care decisions require a weighing of the risk and benefits of treatments, and for COVID-19 vaccines the low cardiovascular risks favour vaccination. A study of over four million vaccinated Australians found no increase in sudden cardiac death. Even patients with pre-existing heart failure do not have an increased risk of worsening heart failure, myocarditis, or blood clots following vaccination.

Excerpt 3:

Quote

Studies have also found that extending the time between first and second doses of the COVID-19 mRNA vaccines beyond the initially recommended three-week interval decreases the risk of myocarditis. Furthermore, post-vaccine myocarditis tends to be transient with very good recovery and is less severe than that associated with COVID-19.

...but I mean, what does the writer know anyways?  He's nothing but a cardiologist with a full professorship in a leading research university in Canada.  :classic_rolleyes:

I wonder how much stupider we are collectively, than Putin thought? he must be really enjoying this.

Common sense would tell you no one should go to Facebook for medical information, but hey, here we are. Hell, there's a person trying to become POTUS on vaccine misinformation.

Its the golden age of bullshit.

I can pretty much guarantee that the whole Trump gambit is working out far better than he ever dared hope....He's even got one of the world's top propagandists making trips to his country and bragging about how much better it is than his own....

He must get a chubby every time he thinks about it....

Free spring COVID booster now available in B.C.; mask mandate dropped in health-care facilities

https://www.cheknews.ca/free-spring-covid-booster-now-available-in-b-c-mask-mandate-dropped-in-health-care-facilities-1198528/

Spring COVID booster shots are now available in B.C. for anyone six months and older, and the mask mandate in health-care facilities is being dropped.

The booster shot is available to anyone feels they would benefit from an additional dose of the vaccine, but the B.C. government is targeting the shots to those with the highest risk of severe illness or anyone who has not yet received an updated vaccine.

This includes, adults 65 years and older, Indigenous adults 55 years and older, adult residents of long-term care homes and assisted-living facilities, and anyone six months and older who is designated as clinically extremely vulnerable.

Those being targeted will receive an invitation to book from the B.C. government, anyone else should reach out to the call centre at 1 833 838-2323 to book an appointment or walk into a pharmacy where the vaccine is available.

^ My BFF just got over a 5 day bout of Covid. This after missing work for a couple day the week prior.

6 work days missed in a 10 days of work span.

He's already prepped his lines for the upcoming attendance meeting.

" Well, the viruses are getting stronger, I'm getting older, this isn't trending well for either of us. However, thanks to the 4hrs of pay for this meeting, I'm feeling a bit better than you guys".

I'm sure this won't stop anti-vaxxers from sharing this debunked bs.

Covid vaccines not linked to fatal heart problems in young people, CDC finds

The new report debunks widespread misinformation that the mRNA shots were connected to sudden cardiac death in young athletes.

If they have documentation, and a Job/Shop Steward with them, then attendance issues shouldn’t be disciplinary. A company cannot discipline someone for missing work based on valid medical issues. It’s a human rights issue at the least and a violation of any decent Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Hopefully your BFF is part of a unionized labour group.
