Don't like the cap loopholes but they are what they are and teams have to play that same game to have.any chance

The NHL needs to fix this

They probably will..... once Vegas needs to rebuild

So when Stone comes back, Golden Knights will be 9.5million over the cap. In the meantime, they get to shop and add Mantha, and Hanafin and probably 1 more.

WTF is this.

Just get your 11million player injured before trade deadline, shop for a few good pieces, and then your 11million player returns for the playoffs: new secret to winning the stanley cup.

you think there's a sign-up sheet in the dressing room for guys to get lacerated spleens and take a 3 month break down the stretch?

this conspiracy theory nonsense is idiotic.

1st = 1st

2nd = brzustewicz

Miromanov = 4th

Jurmo was trash and we were fortunate to dump kuzzy

I'd argue that Miromanov is worth more, at least a 3rd, maybe a 2nd. Very interesting prospect, that just got buried on a deep team.

If he pans out, he'll be a poor man's Brent Burns.

If Canucks face Vegas in the playoffs. I think this will be first round exit for Vancouver.

Vegas will be stacked if all their players get healthy in time for round 1, they are pretty much going to murder Vancouver.

Do we know if we are able to pull off the same cap circumvention with Myers?

Are the Canucks still in California? Maybe you can take Myers to the Mystery Spot

Holy fk

Vegas has all the insider trading figured out and then some. Hanifan AND Mantha lmao. They're playing chess while we're playing checkers.

not sure landing Zadorov and Lindholm early equates to this?

They will fix it immediately the year the Canucks are able to pull it off. And then retroactively apply a cap penalty against us for the following seasons.

Lucky for us we play them 3 times still. Will know how we would fare in the playoffs depending on the results of those 3 games.

No no no, that's not how it will happen.

Vegas will start rebuilding the year Petey gets hurt right before the trade deadline, Canucks put him on LTIR and trade for pending FA Bedard  who has refused to re-sign in Chicago (because as a life long Canuck fan he reads the forum and saw how fans were pissed he didn't boycott them drafting him due to the scandal), Petey joins the Canucks in game 7 of the finals and scores the cup winning goal against the Rangers/Bruins (take your pick). The NHL decides the Canucks found a loophole ignoring Tampa, Chicago, Vegas previously doing it, and rescinds the cup victory and refuses to accept the extension the Canucks have in place for Bedard forcing him to sign in Vegas to end their rebuild. They then close up the loophole calling it the Petey rule.

75% cap retain plus likely not a rental

Hanifin had a partial no trade clause which he would have strategically used to really limit it to Vegas, TB and Boston.

Nice....

You'll get a job at the NHL head office. Bettman needs good brains to circumvent the rules in favour of his little mafia project.

Actually what we need is a fairly moderate version of Hathaway, Clutterbuck or Duhaime. A banger on the 4th line to keep other teams honest especially big teams. Joshua could use a little more help. Brendan Dillon wants to come home and he's a ufa

There has to be some physicality to be had somewhere if PA searches hard enough.

We have 6 points to take away from Vegas and Seattle is only 6 points back from beating them for the wildcard.

GCG and go seattle we want you in the first round!

I would love a first round match up with Seattle. To ignite the rivalry, and because of the proximity, we know the games in Settle will be at least 40% Canucks fans.

I agree. For me, the Canucks would be lucky to win one game if they faced Vegas. Tonight's game will be a huge tell on how they can fare against a team that hasn't had their most recent additions. If they lose big tonight, you have to wonder if it affects them psychologically when they meet in the playoffs.

There are always Goliaths vs David stories - but this looks to be impossible to get by. They don't look like they have a weak area. If you can't get passed their defense, then goaltending isn't really an issue.

Vegas just scrambled their team and will take two weeks to figure out chemistry.

We did our changes 3 weeks ago and just figuring it out. I dont think Vegas even keeps their wildcard spot. Canucks blow them up tonight, Petey with a hatty.

Vegas had no need or right to acquire Hanifin yet here they are and watch them lock him up long term to make the best defence in the league. This is how you win championships - not just load up on forwards. We could have just about acquired Hanifin for the price we paid for Lindholm. The other key here is that Vegas know he's still young and can sign him long-term. You don't just throw away that many picks/pieces for a 30 game rental.

Take notes PA, Colorado and Vegas are schooling us right now. PA did a great job turning a basement team into a playoff team, but there's an extra edge to these savvy GMs in terms of creating a contender, and a consistent one at that. Target good young players to acquire at the TDL from desperate selling teams and turn them into your future core.

Going after Lindholm and Guentzel seems like stupid child's play compared to what Vegas and Colorado are doing.

We didn’t have a Byram to trade and Hanifin has said time and time again he wants to be in the states.

Anything else?
