Probably in the 2's is more likely considering he'll likely take a hometown discount due to being outspoken about wanting to play for the Canucks. I concur I think he's ready for "3RD" but with close to the same minutes as Myers as he needs them managed. Juulsen has been getting better and better not to mention he was a former 1st rounder who got screwed by two freak eye injuries in the same game. 1
Pears
4 minutes ago, Maniwaki Canuck said: Trading for Marino doesn't make a lot of sense in that Hronek-Myers-Marino would block Willander on the RD depth chart for several years. Better to go with Juulsen for a year until he's ready. Marino has three years left on his deal, and if we're smart with Willander's development, he'll spend next year at BU, and then at least one year in Abbotsford. What we'd give up for him I don't know but he would be a fantastic addition.
Nucker67
Zadorov could get more on the open market, like Myers would've. Myers really wanted to stay though and took the discount. Myers produced more than Zadorov last year and accepted a 3 year x $3 contract to stay. The Canucks might be prepared to offer Zadorov $4, but will he accept or chase the money somewhere else? It isn't over yet. Comes down to how much Zadorov wants to stay in VAN.
Slegr
That’s depressing news about Zadorov, but oh well. Hmm, I wonder what Tryamkin is doing these days…?

Willander probably spends one more year in NCAA and at least a season in the AHL. So he’s 2-3 years away anyway. Another year of NCAA for sure but he could easily be ready after that. If so, maybe a trade to open a path for him but it would have to be Marino since Hronek and Myers would still have trade protection. I suspect they'd rather save the assets getting Marino would require, go with Juulsen and spend the money on a winger for Petey. But it could play out so many ways. If Dillon can bring size, tenacity, and some intimidation for a third of what it'd cost to retain Zadorov that's huge Even half would be quite the cap savings, which we need to flesh out the rest of the roster

Devron
Well I guess I’ll just watch other teams draft some young talent at the draft. At least there’s that to look forward to

This is the thing do we want one big tough SOB or 2 for the price of that one. If we miss out on Z the sky ain't falling, it's still clear, we got other options With Dillon and Hakanpaa this team will be even tougher to play against. Dr. Crossbar
Can't have everyone taking team friendly deals, or guys leaving some on the table, and then overpaying Zad. Again, just look at the Myers overpayment at $6. We're just now putting those overpayments behind us.

spook007
Disappointing... Perhaps the last roll of the dice for Allvin to show Zad he won't go any higher... Regardless, decisions have to be made... and Allvin did. Can't go into free agency not knowing, if they are bought or sold... They obviously have a scale of how much they can spend in certain areas, and if they can't fit Zad in, they can't fit him in... This also show upcoming contract negotiations, that they can't pull Allvin around by the nose... Boeser and Demko next season... The cards are on the table... if they want too much, they'll be history. It was the same with Bo... and that find turn out ok in the end... Lets see, where we end up, prior to pulling out the pitch forks... Allvin has earned that. Wonder how much they expect D Petey to become part of the left side in the next few years,

Either way we’d have options. And let’s say they want Hronek(like they’ve talked about) to carry his own pairing and stick Marino with Hughes, that’s gonna elevate Marino and increase his value. Marino would also give them a cheap top 4 RD option while we go through the tough 2 years of the OEL buyout cap hit.
