.. and we have real goaltenders that deserve this man ..

If there was a group made to beg this guy to stay I'd be in it.

based on this rumour ,

i doubt we have to beg ,  pretty sure he wants to stay here ,.

this was the money he was looking for when he went to Calgary ..

I think it more term at that figure..

or a little more money at that term.

personally I’d go term to 6 years tradeable at year 5 ,. Big D age well .

I think if they went 4.5 x 6 years he would accept it

or even 4 x 6 is more money and cap hit is the main issue for us

he's looking for more total money obvi, which he deserves

The hardest thing with Zad is... is he the guy we saw in the playoffs who is quite like top 4 capable, or is he the guy he's been most of his career... a tweener 5/6 guy. Hard to justify giving that kind of term to a guy who is a bottom paring guy who can fill in in the top 4. I'm sure glad it's JR and PA making that decision and not JB lol.

even 5 x 6 years ..   the big man is hanging out n Victoria this weekend apparently..

   That’s a great sign !

Can someone take him Fishing up Coast ..

He needs to see more of Beautiful British Columbia lol

The more he gets to play this position on the PP or Xtra attacker,  he will learn to position to face the shot for the best advantage.  ( and turn those Ship Size Skates! They’re as wide as Skinners Pads !)

YOU NEED ZAD AND DAKOTA FOR SURE ..THE CANUCKS WOULD BE TOO SOFT AND WOULD NOT EVEN BE CLOSE TO BEING A GOOD TEAM AGAIN..UNLESS YOU FIND SKILLED TOUGHER GUYS IM OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS..NO WAY YOU PLAY SOFT HOCKEY.

4.5x5 = 22.5 total money

so offer him 3.25 x 8 to get cap hit down lol = 26

I doubt he says no to that , then we can trade him when he is 35 lol

4.5M for 5 years is not a bad deal. Pretty good actually even if he turns out to be a third pairing guy. The size and mobility is a rarity along with the willingness to throw his weight around. Some guys are big but don’t use their size. Myers play was much more physical and maybe that had to do with having bigger guys on the D corps. Zadorav, Soucy, myers, Cole, juulsen, all play a physical brand of hockey that has been missing from the Canucks lineup for ever.

Zadarov is the real deal that we all dream one day Nikita Tryamkin  would come back to play for us.

We need to sign him and lock him in minimum for at least 4-5yrs. We would be stupid to let him sign with another team!!

So when are they announcing Zads re signing ???

Likely Zadorov (us too) is waiting until July 1 so he can see what other clubs will offer. Then we can either match it or move on.

I think he'd go for a 7 year deal at a lower AAV. He seems to value security and a nice place for his family, which you have to respect.

30 mil total, 7 years, 4.28 aav.

JR did similar with Tanev years ago. I think he went six years and 20 mil?

just looked it up, it was 5.

The deal can be structured so big Z gets most of the money early, and make the last year easy to trade or buy out, or maybe he retires.

Lock up Z, get Myers back on something friendly, trade Hronek to Carolina for new F toys, and then just make free agency about getting the best RHD you can.

My offer to him is 5yr 4.5m cap hit with a signing bonus and some trade protection. If he wants 5m plus and 5yr or more unless we all of a sudden are willing to play him top 4 instead of Cole/Myers/Soucey(or with Soucy) then its too expensive for a big 3rd pairing D. He can skate, hit and has a good shot. He should be on the PP and in the top 4 imo!

That's a yearly decrease in pay though, why would he do that?

Give him term, and it'll bring the AAV down.

What is he legitimately worth per year?

30yo - $6M

31yo - $6M

32yo - $5.5M

33yo - $4.5M

34yo - $3M

35yo - $2M

36yo - $1M

37yo - $1M

Total - $29M

AAV - $3.625M

We know we can't structure a contract like this, so it'd have to be a much more evenly spaced out contract.  But the above numbers are realistically what he's worth for each of those 8 years.  It guarantees him a pay cheque until he's 37 years old.  Question is do we want to be paying him $3.625M as a cap hit until he's 37yo?

The more likely route is Canucks offering a 5 or 6 year deal.  Based on the above numbers, these would be the cap hits:

5 year deal - $5M AAV

6 year deal - $4.5M AAV

Just my 2 cents, and Zadorov's millions.

I love this!!!! Good job on the break down. Hopefully management does this and he takes this deal.
