Sure but what team in recent memory made the finals coz they spread the cap down the lineup and have a bottom 6 and bottom pairing that’s paid well above the league average? None? Maybe St. Louis? Most if not all teams that makes the final are usually top loaded in terms of cap allocation and have bottom 6 bottom pairing play above their cap hit. Not bottom players paid above the league normal performing just at their cap hit

the canucks could have won the cup this year pretty easily if a couple things had gone differently.

not concerned.

Now that Hronek has signed I think the focus will shift to Zadorov. My guess is term over money. I think he signs for less than we expect at 4.95 mil x 8 years

If it’s 8 yrs AAV gotta be 4.5

=36 total money which was what NSH rumour is 6X6

Good point. I think we can keep it under 5 if we offer term.

Ummmmm not having Demko??? an unfortunate injury to a top 3 Vezina candidate? We aren't talking miracles here, literally just one healthy body is all we really were missing. Yea, we certainly could have won the cup this year. One of the biggest and strongest bluelines in the league, easily top 5 goalie and then our ability to score 5v5 and not rely on the PP like Edmonton relies on so heavily... Yea, this definitely could have been our year.

Bro you guys are delusional if you think we could have EASILY won the cup. We have no pp we have no 2nd line scoring.. Hughes is getting pummel to a pulp. Hronek is no where to be seen. Mikheyev and hoglander is rotating into the press box. Ep rode off into space in his ufo. Demko or not we ain’t winning the cup without every single possible things to go right for the Canucks. Silov wasn’t the reason why we lost. The way we played at times where we just turtled until the last 5-10 mins of the game is the reason why we lost. If we played Dallas the way we played Edmonton? Series over in 4. They literally only played 1 game with a complete dominant effort. The other 2 wins they were dominated and won coz of inept goaltending last 5-10 mins of the game

Nope. Oilers were dominated and got very lucky bounces. Canucks took them to 7 games. It's the quality of shots over quantity

Are you saying the same thing for the Oilers in the Panthers series that the Oilers are dominating?

not 'easily' as in winning the cup is easy, because it's never easy (duh). 'easily' as in it was well within the realm of feasibility.

Oilers are not dominating.. it only looks that way coz Florida have early lead and just sat back and defend easy to do when you are winning.. Canucks are sitting back to defend a tie or even trailing? Florida is also dominating the oilers power play same thing can’t be said from the Canucks

Florida has their Vezina goalie. We didn’t.

Then the same thing in the 2nd round. Oilers did not dominate at all. Canucks are like the Panthers except they didn't finish

And we didn’t have our Vezina level goalie.

He was fine until the playoff running out of gas. Cole was one of if not the worse defenseman on the team this post season

He was one of our best defencemen in round 1 and was injured in round 2…

Zad fits this system perfectly under Toc.

He should be resigned next

this teams spent years looking for a D man that plays this way he has size and actually uses it.

I would be disappointed to see Zad leave.

Exactly, but Silovs did well too, so let's not take that away from him

having your starting goalie in general, let alone a vezina runner up, does a lot more for a team than just upgrading the position.

it's the difference between playing with confidence and playing with fear.

lol the oilers at no point were dominated outside of game 5. They were neutralized offensively sure but out offence was completely non existent in the series outside of couple 10min stretches in the 3rd and game 5. Literally 2 of the wins came in the last 10mins of a game that we showed no life in offensively. If we have Demko sure maybe we win the series but playing the way we did in the 1st 2 round and let the other team come at us and only decided to show up in the last period? We still got a ways to go
