LA's bread and butter is playing a 'shut down' game and holding onto a lead. The Canucks had little chance to get in close to score a goal. It soon became apparent they couldn't shed the Kings tight defensive structure. One has to remember, that the Kings have only missed the playoffs 5 times, since their 2 SC championships in 2012 +2014. This team is born from a winning environment that has been past on from previous players. They still have Kopitar as their best C and Doughty as the best D and their younger core group is starting to perform well. They haven't managed to get past the 1st round so far, but I'll bet they believe this is the year they will reach the 2nd round and (with luck) they make it to the Conference Final. Probably unlikely. The Kings are a team with SC championships in their hearts and far more playoff experience in their veins than the Canucks can even dream about. It takes a long time to build a contender and even longer for that contender to win it all (if ever). Be patient, Canuck fans. Our time is just starting to come into focus.
