Happy to add Boris to the club for the remainder of the season, we view this as a getting aquainted phase, and we will see if we can offer him a q.o. later this spring.

I was watching the waiver claims all the while we were making our last minute deals at the deadline yesterday. Frankly, there is a heated three way 'race' to stay out of the bottom five and had we not won the claim on Boris by 11:45, another move would have been necessary. Boris is helping me preserve my assets, and for that I am thankful.
((Although Alex Nylander going on waivers moments after we claimed Boris was a shock, we didn't win that claim)

Here is the unofficial final totals for the trade counter for the year after a busy (shall we call it our 2nd deadline after the big flurry about a month ago)

Calgary, Buffalo, Washington, Toronto and Tampa Bay essentially making enough trades to ice an entire team and then some

September 32-in-32: Dallas Stars – DobberProspects

Dallas Rising Stars!!!

ELC Slides edition, Six head turners on 3 year ELC's and their year so far:

Owen Beck C MTL, inaugural draft 368th overall in the 12th round (33 oa '22 NHL Draft)

Began the year with the Petes in the OHL notching 30 points in 25 games before turning it on with a trade to the

Saginaw Spirit where he put up 17 goals and 25 assists over 27 games (72 points in 52 games OHL)
Rounding out his experience on the year was a Team Canada appearance at the WJC's where he put up a point in 5 games wearing an A for Canada.

Drafted 33rd overall in the NHL by Montreal, Beck already has an NHL game under his belt and could skip the AHL for a direct entry position next year in MTL.

Filip Bystedt C SJS, inaugural draft 401st overall in the 13th round (27 oa '22 NHL Draft)

4 points in 7 WJC games for Sweden and 17 points in 46 games in the SHL this year, not to mention a point per game player on Swedens international jr team.

That doesn't tell the whole story, although it is a compelling line of numbers. His rapid development and soaking up of the training and knowledge base to play will only enhance his game when he ultimately moves to North America, possibly to finish of this season once his SHL team is done, currently with one reg. season game remaining.

Jani Nyman LW/RW SEA, inaugural draft 657th overall in the 21st round (49 oa '22 NHL Draft)

This massive and strong winger is making lasting mark in the Finnish Mens Liiga, posting 40 goals in 47 games as a teenage player!

The 6'3" 216 pounder is already NHL size ready and his scoring prowess against men suggests he may be in North America sooner than later.

6 points in 7 WJC games a couple months ago only pushed his legend higher in the Finn Hockey world.

Fraser Minten C/LW TOR, inaugural draft 696th overall in the 22nd round (38 oa '22 NHL Draft)

Minten surprised his best fans with a four game stint to start the year in the NHL, right out of camp.

After returning to the WHL, the natural Centerman put up 42 points in 37 games, while captaining team Canada at the WJC's.

Six games left in his season before we will get to see him in action as he races towards a Memorial Cup performance.

Felix Unger-Sorum RW CAR, inaugural draft 880th overall in the 28th round (62 oa '23 NHL Draft)

6 points in 7 WJC games for Sweden and 15 points in 17 international games with Swedens international jr's were a good footnote, but

in just one J20 Nationell game Felix potted 2 goals and 2 assists, after a previous campaign of 46 points in 42 games, showing he had nothing left to prove against his own age cohort (as of today he is still only 18!). Moving up the SHL to play against pro men: Unger-Sorum went on to score 15 points in 34 games in his first pro year overseas.

Jakub Dvorak D LAK, inaugural draft 1072nd overall in the 34th round (54 oa '23 NHL Draft)

18 until May this year, Jakub Dvorak has just recently transitioned to North American Ice.
3 goals in 19 games at the Czechia pro mens level after 3 points in 3 games at the u20 level was enough and the NHL's Kings moved their asset to the WHL to finish the year. With the Swift Current Bronco's the hulking Dman put up 9 points in 19 games thus far, seven left on the season before the playoffs where he should shine.

Strong on his skates with a fluidity and good edgework, this Raw Defensive prospect is already improving his ceiliing and could be a solid minute eating 2nd pair Dman in the show in a handful of years.

Unsigned Prospects Edition:

Topi Ronni C CGY, inaugural draft 1008th overall in the 32nd round (59 oa '22 NHL Draft)

The 6'2" center managed 32 points in 20 games in the Finish U20 league before earning a job with the Battle Axe (Tappara) in the Liiga.

His first taste of Liiga Action last year with the same games played was a bit better for production than this years edition, but Ronni is improving his pace and intensity vs men after showing he has not much left to do against his own age group of players. His physical play is rounding out and he may be in North America by next year, as his contract in Finland expires with Tappara's playoff drive, although currently they are the top ceded team when those playoffs begin.

Miko Matikka RW ARI, inaugural draft 1280th overall in the 40th round (67 oa '22 NHL Draft)

This 6'3" Right Winger is finishing his 2nd North American season, this year with University of Denver where he has notched 16 goals and 11 assists over 35 games.

So far Miko has garnered FOUR "NCHC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK" honours. He is the leading freshman for goals in the United States and 14 of his 16 goals were scored in 14 strait games! wow. Injured for the first half of the '22 season, Miko Matikka's stock is now growing with every puck touch.

Yegor Zavragin G PHI, inaugural draft 1272nd overall in the 40th round (87 oa '23 NHL Draft)

Our most recent acquisition is this 18 year old Russian Netminder, currently coming off a SHUT OUT in the MHL playoffs has had a spectacular year.

In the VHL, russias 2nd teir he managed a 1.6 gaa over 17 games, with 13 wins, 1 loss. In those playoffs he had 3 games with a 1.67gaa and .938save%

Over the same time he had 9 MHL games, posting 1.63gaa and .945save% while going 6-1-2 on the season. This kids a winner and it shows, and why we asked for him to be included in one of our last trades of this inaugural season. He sits fourth on our Goalie Depth Chart behind Gustavsson, Vejmelka and Silovs.

A future as bright as the Stars!

Post Trade Deadline Press Conference

After what was a busy day in which we saw the Tampa Bay Lightning make 6 deals on deadline day and one mega deal the day before deadline day, that Tampa Bay Lightning feel they have done enough to be a contender in the Eastern Conference. Currently sitting 4th in the league standings, and 1st in the Atlantic, it seemed that Tampa Bay was already in a position of success, however after catching up with GM Relyt Krets to discuss the deadline, this is what he had to say.

Jeff Marek (Sportsnet): Relyt, take us through the thought process behind the deal in which we saw you trade William Nylander and Travis Konency to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Roope Hintz, Sebastian Aho and JJ Peterka. Trading one of your core players, one who is playing like he has been this season must not have been easy?

GMRK: Look, no trade is easy and this was definitely not easy at all. We loved Willie here in Tampa and the plan was to build this team around him and Matthew (Tkachuk), however this opportunity presented itself with GM @ArtemChubarov where he liked Willie as much as we did, and we liked the idea of bringing back 2 players who we felt should make deep runs in this years playoffs, not too mention 2 players who we really look up highly too as well. The fact we were also able to add a great young player in Peterka also really helped soften the blow. All the respect to Konecny as well, but we knew he was a player we were likely to flip and we wish Willie and Travis all the best

JM: You made 6 trades on deadline day and 2 the day before. You brought in 4 defensemen in 5 of those deals. What was the thought process behind that, in one deal moving out Philip Broberg who has lots of raw potential still.

GMRK: We have felt that our back end has always been an area of weakness all season long. We have really struggled to put together a good group back there to play in front of Vas and we feel this was a need for us to address at the deadline. I feel we did a great job and now have 8 dmen who can play almost anywhere, and we were able to acquire a great veteran in Ryan McDonagh who has won a cup and will be a great presence on the back end. Moving Broberg was not easy and we moved him for less then we had hoped for as we truly believe he will be a top 4 Dman in this league, but again it was about building this back end to be a team that is competitive in the playoffs and as we get deeper into playoffs, depth is needed. But we thank GM @Rush, GM @Rick Blight , GM @PeteyBOI and GM @MeanSeanBean for working with us in these deals for defense and we wish all players going the other way the best going forward

JM: You mentioned your deal with Calgary, and you made 2 deals with Calgary, one that saw Philip Danault get moved. Tell us your thoughts on that?

GMRK: Again, not a player we were excited or looking to move, however when it came down to it, it was a move we had to make to move out some cap. We made the move worthwhile and again GM Rick Blight worked with us to come up with a very fair a great deal that added to our depth and made us stronger as a forward group

JM: Thanks RK and best of luck

GMRK: Thank you, and Go Bolts!

FTW: Detroit Red Wings have 5th best logo in American sports

DETROIT RED WINGS POST DEADLINE BREAKDOWN

The Red Wings first trade deadline was deemed an overwhelming success according to Franchise GM Rush. The team managed to add some key young pieces for the teams 2024-25 Season. The team moved out top Prospect Alexander Nikishin, Sam Carrick, Spencer Martin, Andrew Peeke, and a plethora of picks.

The Red Wings acquired three promising young defensemen who the franchise believes will be ready to contend for spots next season. The highlight add was top defensive prospect Jamie Drysdale. Drysdale has been quite the offensive force in his young career but injuries continue to limit his opportunities to establish himself as a true top-tier offensive dman. The Wings hope their medical staff and off-season planning with Jamie will aid him in becoming a more consistent and healthy member of the franchise.

The team also was thrilled to welcome Erik Brannstrom, the long-time Senators Dman who has struggled to establish himself as a legitimate top 4 defenseman. The opportunities available for Brannstrom with the Wings this season and a clean slate will hopefully foster a newfound lustre in his career trajectory. The team also added Oilers Dman Philip Broberg who has struggled to have an opportunity to play on the cup contender Edmonton Oilers. Every little mistake has cost him ice time, and Philip may need room to make mistakes. The Wings believe he could be a very solid 3-5 Dman.

The Wings are very excited about the additions we have made on defence. We also completely overhauled our goaltending position by bringing in the likes of John Gibson (Ducks veteran goalie) and young Sabres netminder Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen. The team feels confident in its goaltending duo and it is expected John Gibson will be moved this off-season by the Ducks. Luukkonen is having a career year and has put a very respectable 915 SV% in 40 starts.

Upfront the Red Wings added veteran forwards Reilly Smith and Tyler Motte to help guide the young forwards as the team closes at the season's end. The most exciting addition though aside from Jamie Drysdale and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen would have to be the Vancouver 2024 1st Round Pick the team acquired in the Nikishin deal. The pick is expected to be in the top 10 of this year's draft. This could open up some fun outcomes for the Wings who currently hold two picks in the top 10 range.

Minnesota Wild post deadline presser

This year may not have shaped up the way we intended after the draft. At the conclusion of the draft, the Wild brass felt we could be a bubble team if everything went right for us here in Minnesota. Unfortunately that was not the case, and after a hot start where we sat top 10 in the league for a couple weeks, we quickly began falling down the standings.

Similar, I knew I was building my club for future years, not necessarily this first year, but after the deadline, last night in fact, we were passed by Rusty's Capitals and now sit in 5th worst club territory. The dreaded bottom five. Tonight we might be able to reverse that situation, but unless some key injuries get well soon we may have a complete disaster for our summer draft plans. I was never going to win the cup this year, but we planned on being competitive until several massive players got hurt. This week should see Leo Carlsson back and Thomas Hertl at the end of march, a few others got healthy this week. Hopefully we get some puck luck and reverse our fortunes.

You're team looks awesome, I wouldn't be worried. We've been falling quickly in the standings as well, hoping we don't fall all the way down as well.
