Mike Vanderhoek
The Montreal Canadiens are very pleased to welcome forward Oskar Steen to the organization. Mike Vanderhoek
Press release: The Montreal Canadiens wasted little time assembling their management group and working the phones to find talent from around the league. The Canadiens would like to thank GM @Rusty Shackleford and the Capitals for a smooth negotiation and ultimately working out a fair deal for both sides. Thanks to the league as well for processing and handling the clerical work. Moving Sebastian Cossa and a 1st round pick while steep we felt we could work with that scenario. Our scouting department feels Leevi Merilainen may prove a very good starter on a good team within the next few years. The Canadiens thank forward Aidan McDonough for his time in Montreal. Noah Dobson, one of the top young producing defensemen in the league on a very good contract. He is mature beyond his age and we foresee he hits another level in his game this year. When the opportunity arose to work on this deal we felt securing a talent like Noah could inject not only production but a shot in the arm to the club. We've already heard in talks and suggestions in the media that multiple clubs feel the Canadiens are bottom dwellers. No we are not selling. No we don't intend to pick in the top ten this entry draft. Yes we intend to make the playoffs this season. Its not quite two weeks into the new season, a lot will change. Thanks 2 1

Thanks When we heard that @Mike Vanderhoek had taken over the GM position of the Canadiens we knew our Conference just got a lot harder to compete in. Mike will have this team playing some great hockey sooner, rather than later. 2

Gator
EARLY SEASON PRESS CONFERENCE Reporter: The Vancouver Canucks are in the bottom of the standings, and things just aren't looking so good. What do you guys plan to do to fix this before this hill to climb gets too far out of reach? GMG: We don't want to push the panic button just yet. We went very young with the draft with eyes on the future. We knew we would likely sacrifice short term success going this route, but we do hope to atleast compete for a playoff spot this year. Right now we are just going to take a wait and see approach, and possibly look at a trade or 2 in the future if we feel it could help boost our chances this year. Our main goal will be to stay out of the bottom 5. If we see the playoffs within reach come TDL time, we may look at making a big move or 2. Reporter: What is your plans with the goaltending position going forward? Surely you can't hang onto 2 goalies taking up $12m in cap space. GMG: We are fine with it for now, but we will eventually have to make a decision there fairly quickly. We have faith in both of these goalies, but knew both had some question marks coming in. We took both of them with the intention of having them battle it out to be our long term #1. Competition brings the best out in people, and early on I'd say it surely lit a fire under Binnington. It is still early, but I think we definitely have a front runner in Goal. Still lots of time left before we will have to make a decision there. Hopefully Gibson can get back to form. We believe his irl situation is the reason he is struggling. We feel a change of scenery could prove to be what he needed. Reporter: When do you think this team will truly be ready to compete for the GFL Championship? GMG: 3 years. Maybe sooner if all goes well. We feel we have the pieces already in the system to be a very strong team in 3 years. A little patience will pay off big. However, if we can find a way to make a couple good trades/signings that could help speed up the process. Our goal is to take thing slow and build a team that can not only compete, but find themselves competing year after year. Long term sustainability is what our goal is here.. We don't want short term windows.. We want to break that window so it can never close. Easier said then done though. We have guys on our club like Jack Hughes, Jared McCann, Dawson Mercer, and Evander Kane that should all still be playing a very important role in 2-3 years. We have young guys destined to take big leaps in that time such as Wahlstrom, Krebs, Holloway, and Perunovich. To top it all off I believe we have one of if not THE best prospect pool in the league. Nemec, Askarov, Farrell, Edstrom, Goyette, Lombardi, Raty, Gulyayev, Dragicevic, Price, and so much more.. It's going to be very fun watching everything come together. The first year or 2 may be a bit of a tough run, but we see a VERY bright future here in Vancouver. 1 1

Mike Vanderhoek
5 hours ago, Relyt Krets said: SIGNING: The Montreal Canadiens have agreed to terms with the following players to new deals - Santtu Kinnunen - 3 years x $2,400,000 ($800,000 AAV) - Tuukka Tieksola - 3 years x $2,325,000 ($775,000 AAV) - Andrei Buyalsky - 3 years x $2,325,000 ($775,000 AAV) - Marc Del Gaizo - 3 years x $2,400,000 ($800,000 AAV) --------------------------------------- The Canadiens are thrilled to add four young prospects to the organization. After missing the initial Draft and Free Agency leading up to the season we feel really good about securing these four players into our organization. Marc Del Gaizo: A very key addition to the organization, Marc provides an offensive style of play that will help him transition to our NHL club when ready and contribute. We see Marc as a call up option this season for the Canadiens. Thrilled he remained available to this point. Santtu Kinuunen: In adding Santtu, the Canadiens bring in a responsible two-way defenseman who has some untapped offensive ability and potential. He has transitioned nicely to North America and is hitting his stride. Another player we foresee as being a call up option for us this year as he works to establish himself in the organization. Thrilled again that we had the opportunity to bring in Mr Kinuunen. Tuukka Tieksola: Currently on loan to Finland we feel Tuukka slipped past most team's radar as he has shown to have potential as a mid-lineup to top six offensive forward should he put all the tools together. At only 22 years old Tuukka will be given every opportunity to develop his pro game. Andrei Buyalsky: Perhaps seen as more of a longshot to get to the pro level, Andrei is now playing his third season at the university of Vermont. A tall centre at 6' 3" he has this past offseason grown into his frame and sits around 190lbs. Andrei by all reports has not skipped a beat with his added weight and a 6' 3" shoot first offensive center is not a player we could look past. Potential to get to the NHL down the road in Montreal. 1
